My now-husband and I hosted a henna/mehndi party for around 30 guests here earlier this May as part of our wedding weekend celebrations, and it was the absolute perfect venue! If you're considering Our House Culture Center for your next event, let me walk you through a few highlights:
Courtney herself - Courtney is truly a convener and community leader, and she was so lovely to work with. Responsive, funny, friendly, kind - just an absolute delight. You can tell by the way she's curated Our House, it's programming and other initiatives, including an incubator for young area entrepreneurs right next door, that Courtney really cares about the Germantown/Mt. Airy community, and is invested in establishing all important third spaces and cultural programming for our neighborhood. We were so happy to be able to stay in Mt. Airy for our event since this is our stomping grounds! Thank you Courtney for all you do for the neighborhood!
The space - my family and I are not decorators by nature (we just put out a nice tablecloth and call it a day on birthdays lol), so I was a little worried about making the space feel appropriately like it had an appropriate "party" atmosphere, but Courtney and her team have already crafted the space to be so beautiful that you really don't need to do much! A few colorful tablecloths and flower arrangements really were all we need to make it feel inviting and fun for our guests. It also has a great sound system, fun colored lights, and heating/cooling options to keep your guests partying in comfort for your whole event!
Affordability - weddings are wildly expensive these days, so we were so happy to find a venue option that was a comfortable size and also truly affordable for our family.
All in all, I highly recommend working with Courtney and Our House for your next event. They have a max capacity of around 40 people, so it's just that perfect in-between size for a shower, an intimate wedding ceremony, a milestone birthday, a poetry reading - you name it, it's such a flexible, beautiful, and affordable space! Couldn't recommend it more strongly! Thank you again Courtney...
Read moreWe selected OHCC revenue for my mother's 75th surprised birthday party because of location, professionalism of during business, the ambience of the venue and wanting to support a small business in our community.
The venue is versatile for any event. You have access to a kitchenette area, a lower level with great space for food set up, etc. The main area is beautiful with access to a great sound and presentation systems.
I loved that the expectations were clearly noted in the contract and appreciated the prompt responses to our questions. Great communication so our needs were met. All of our expectations were met throughout our 6 month planning and at the end of our event. The venue was clean and in order, upon our arrival. We were able to setup for our event promptly as scheduled. If we had questions, Courtney was available to assist. She also assisted us with getting our slid show set up by using her own computer. The little details mean so much. I appreciated that toward end of our event, trash was discreetly taken away and Courtney was available when it was time for us to pack up. This venue is perfect for your events and gatherings! Courtney is very professional, warm and approachable. She is clear and concise of the expectations of renting the OHCC and does everything she can to know what your needs are to make your event a...
Read moreHosted a bridal shower here. This is a very nice venue for small events. The windows make for great lighting. The kitchenette is a nice bonus I just wish they had basic utensils like a knife and a bottle opener. Note: they dont allow tape on the walls so come prepared with command hooks should you need to hang decorations (our host McKenzi was nice enough to give us a few. She also went and found us another table). Would definitely use this...
