After years of searching for a skilled and knowledgeable hair professional, I can confidently say I’ve finally found someone who exceeds all expectations. Based on glowing reviews on Google and Reddit, I decided to give this salon a try, and I am beyond impressed.

The owner is meticulous and highly knowledgeable about hair health and styling. What sets her apart is her client-focused approach. She doesn’t simply style your hair and send you on your way; she educates you throughout the entire process. She explains not only what she’s doing but why she’s doing it, offering constructive advice on how to improve hair care at home. I had the pleasure of visiting Hair Salon Pillar in Germantown on a Friday afternoon, and I cannot rave enough about my experience! I had done 3 weeks worth of research (I am an economic analyst so by training, I do so much research ) before finally booking my appointment. I don't play with texture chemical treatments and wanted the absolute best. Salon Pillar came first place in the shortlist.

The owner has a holistic approach to hair care. She took the time to assess my hair type and offered great advice on how to maintain health and strength, WITHOUT JUDGEMENT. I do like relaxers and do struggle with judgements when I ask for one to hair stylists. She showed none of that. Stayed very professional, spoke about the root causes of my traction alopecia, provided guidance, also mentioned the pros and cons of relaxers etc. and options I have. I truly appreciated it.

Not only was she incredibly skilled (takes care of your hair with ease), she also has a fantastic sense of humor that kept me entertained throughout my appointment, literally! I laughed so much while she worked on my hair, and it honestly felt more like a catch-up with a friend than a salon visit. She also very knowledgeable about so many things and sensitive to cultures... I left Hair Salon Pillar not just with a fabulous and sleek new haircut that perfected hid my alopecia, but also with valuable insights. It was a refreshing experience, and I felt rejuvenated both inside and out! I felt so chic, I could not go straight home.

I very rarely let anyone touch my hair. I decided back in December I was ready to step into the world of coloring my hair after years of being natural. I went to Pilar after a bad experience with another hair stylist in the area and haven't looked back! I was looking for a natural hair colorist who cares about the health of their clients hair and is actually good at coloring to maintain my colored hair. Pilar is funny, great at convo, and really strives to achieve the results a client wants. She is honest and wants the best for her clients. She did a great job evening out some tragically uneven coloring I had going on by adding highlights (which I love)! If you're a natural girl and have been wanting to color your hair but are afraid of damaging it, go to Pilar. She will answer all of your questions directly and honestly tell you what can be achieved healthily. We're still working to get my color exactly where I want it, but I appreciate Pilar for being patient with me (I change my nind every time I come in 😂) and being dedicated to helping me achieve my goals with my hair color. Honesty and integrity is really important to me when it comes to hair stylists and I expect them to be the expert and provide me with guidance. Pilar does exactly that and I love her for it.
