I took the canyoneering course from Tom. He is an amazing teacher and guide. He takes the theory and gives practical application that comes from his extensive experience. I came away from the experience feeling like I have a foundational understanding that will help keep me from getting in to a situation that is over my head. Update: Tom was our private guide for a trip down Dillinger Canyon with my two sons (ages 13 and 15). Both of them had some rappelling and climbing experience but no canyoneering experience. Tom was amazing with them. He took the extra time to teach us every step of the way. The trip exceeded all of my expectations. I highly recommend Tom and his team.

Absolutely a great course! Hands on practice from tying knots to making different anchors with great explanations of each one and what they do before we got on rope. Tom is a guy full of information and expertise to help us learn I highly recommend their course at Arizona rock and canyon adventures

It was an exceptional service instructor for canyoneering skills at all levels!! The class was adapted to our current experience and skill levels to advance us from where we currently were. Tom is great at explaining and demonstrating the skills, thanks Tom! It was an incredible class

My spouse and our 3 young adventurous boys (9,11,13) went on a canyonnering day in the Christopher Creek Canyon near Payson (AZ) with two outstanding guides from Arizona Rock and Canyon Adventures in early August 2018. Canyoneering with the whole family is lots of fun but as parents we are evidently concerned with safety. A few years ago we did incredible canyoneering with Rick and Amie Green from Excursion of Ecalente (Utah). Rick was also very safety oriented and thus I contacted him to get references in Arizona. He immediatly recommended to go with ARCA. This proved a very good tip as our guides Jeremy and Bill were everything we were expecting. This wet canyon was outstanding as for sighting and, for our family, its degree of difficulty was challenging but everyone did great and was proud after the 4-5 hours of descent. The many rappels were really fun and our guides were very good coaches. Routes in and out were also neat looking and not too long. Our guides were very amicable, patient with our active boys and of great company. We will go back with ARCA without any doubt the next time we are in AZ. Thanks again Tom, Jeremy and Bill. Luc...

I had such a fantastic time with Tom! I found AZ Rock & Canyon and made contact immediately, seeking the knowledge required to get started climbing with others. I told him a bit about me and exactly my goals, and we were able to find a date that worked.

Whenever you work as someone's student, especially doing something like this, there's a lot of trust required. Tom is friendly and knows his stuff from A to Z, so that trust is swiftly earned (and richly deserved). You know from the first second that this man has been doing it for many years and really loves it. Any questions you have he'll answer.

We spent about 5 hours together and I came away with more confidence and knowledge than I expected. I was very satisfied with this as a functional primer to this sport and definitely look forward to putting this to use, and I know that I can contact Tom with any questions too, which really shows you what a great guy he is!

Don't hesitate! If you're thinking about this, you will richly enjoy it! You're in very capable hands and will come away having had a blast and knowing way more than you imagined! You will definitely get the...

I can't say enough good things about AZ Rock and Canyon. The instructor was knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and friendly. We met up where and when we said we would and the Jeremy made every effort to make sure that all participants received the best training possible. Jeremy recommended gear and told us what his personal favorites were but NEVER made anyone feel like their gear was sub-par or or pressured anyone to buy gear through him. Every question that I asked was answered thoroughly and in a way that anyone could understand. During practical applications, Jeremy made sure that each student was able to apply the skills that he had taught but did so in a way that made me feel like I wasn't being "tested" or "evaluated", he was always right behind us ready to show us how to fix a small error or how to do something better. Again, I can't say enough good things about these guys. I WILL be returning for more training and I will point all of my friends in their...
