I used to go to the 20th st location all the time. I worked at a nearby office and it was a regular lunch location. I NEVER had issues and never got sick. Recently I ordered through Uber Eats since I got a credit. I didn't have any problems with it and it was really tasty. I went a few days later in person to the Northern location for the first time. I ordered the same exact thing-Shish Tawook which is my absolute favorite. I ordered this so many times at 20th st. Anyway, I walked in and from the moment I started placing my order the service was TERRIBLE with how rude the cashier was at the restaurant. I knew from experience that it can take awhile to prepare the order, but after my number was called it took around 10 minutes to even get her to hand me my food. My food sat on the table behind her. Another lady was just trying to order and she kept allowing these people to get in front of her and order food. I had a difficult time getting her attention to just get my food. FInally she did and the bag was missing a plate (I ordered two) and I told her. With attitude she went and grabbed it and just handed it to me instead of putting it in the bag. I was missing the pita bread that comes with it. Feeling so frustrated and even hurt by what I experienced I just wanted out of there so I didn't say anything about the pita. The one thing I noticed is that the other lady who was just trying to order was white. Everyone else got better service than we did. Which this is not something I have ever experienced at any ethnic restaurant I have ever been to. I did send a message to corporate on their website and never heard anything. After getting home and eating, I actually started feeling sick within a few hours and my stomach hasn't been the same. This is a place I really enjoyed before and recommended to so many people. Now I'm having to tell people...
Read moreThe store is large with a good variety. It's very close to my house. Extremely convenient. The first time I've ever shopped there was today. The two star rating is because of the people who work there. When I entered the store, the woman at the register with her head covered in the gray scarf (hijab cap) did not even acknowledge I had walked in the store. I passed her after that on an aisle, again no acknowledgment that a human being was in front of her much lesser customer. While I was looking for the honey that was on sale, a store employee came with a inventory sheet? Standing directly to my left not more than 2 ft away. He said nothing, finally I said good morning, he then said good morning. I stood they're in front of the honey for quite a while looking for the exact item on sale common not being able to find it. Not once did he say have you found everything you're looking for can I help you find something, nothing. He then finally said to me excuse me because apparently I was blocking his egress. Friendlier staff members were at the pastry yogurt Olive section, the produce area, and finally one of The Butchers was helpful. Perhaps because I was dressed and cut off shorts and I'm an American I did not appear on their radar as someone who was important. However, if you're going to have a store located on Dunlap and 27th Avenue, you should expect people to show up with tattoos and shorts, etcetera. Because I like to eat clean food I may go back there. But I write this to let everyone know not to really expect any customer service there. Or if them to even acknowledge that you are a human being looking...
Read moreThis is for the restaurant inside of this Baiz at 27th Ave and Northern. I was hesitant to go to this Baiz because the whole strip mall is a total dump and a giant lounge for homeless people. But sometimes the best finds are where we don’t look so I went in. I have been to the Mesa Baiz and the 20th Street Baiz and they both have amazing restaurants inside. They use the same pita bread that is sold in the store and the 20th & Rosevelt location has the best shish tawook (chicken kabob) we have ever had. But this place, is a far cry from understanding what a kabob or real pita bread is. They completely forgot my dozen falafel that I paid for but it probably doesn’t matter. Everything we got there was not good at all. First - they use tortillas for their kabob sandwiches (gross) so they were a soggy mess and with the hummus they gave us this sweet tortilla/pita hybrid that is not good with Arabic salads. Second, three pieces of chicken breast squished down to form patties does not a kabob make! Third, no one at this restaurant appears to be Arabic and I don’t blame them for not understanding how off the food is. I blame the owner of Baiz for not having and maintaining standards at this particular in-house restaurant. This makes me want to never go back to any Baiz just to guarantee I don’t have this...
