There are 4 pickleball courts and 2 tennis courts. The pickleball courts aren't bad but have some cracks in the surface. There is no fencing between the courts, but a tennis net stops balls from going between the opposing courts. I showed up most mornings at 7am, and most people start showing up about 7:30-8am. They have a paddle system with 4 on and 4 off, unless all the courts aren't busy. There are plenty of players by 9am, mostly intermediate but some advanced. If you get there late the parking lot could be full.

If you stop by the Arizona Falls to see some history of the Arizona Canals, make sure you pack a lunch and enjoy GR Herberger Park which is connected to the Falls. The parking is to the west of the park and I always find a place to park. There are ramadas, tennis courts, volley ball, and lots of green grass to play on. There are restrooms. Arizona Falls is just to the east and you can walk the banks of the canal to enjoy the view or read about the history of the canals. This is a wheelchair friendly site!

You gotta love that Phoenix has free public tennis courts. These courts could use resurfacing considering how many people use them. I hope that's in the city's budget.

Four well-kept pickleball courts in constant use; two tennis court pretty much collecting dust (rarely in use). Meanwhile there's always 10 - 20 people waiting to play pickleball. The City of Phoenix recreation department should conduct their own survey to determine if one or both of those tennis courts should be converted over to pickleball (one tennis court can become two pickleball courts).

In spite of the fact that there are overhead lights, evening/night pickleball on two of the courts suffers a bit from poor placement of the overhead lights (difficult to see the pickleball leaving your opponent's paddle). The courts could use two more overhead light poles.

City of Phoenix rec department, well done! Hats-off to you. But you can do even better. Conduct a...

The park consists of 2 sections. The first is the grassy area. it has a small concrete sidewalk loop that goes around the area that takes probably 10 or so minutes to finish. They also have a nice sand volleyball court and tennis court. The bathrooms were locked in the morning when I came... around 7 am. The second section is the canal trail that you can access by taking the stairs. The trail extends on for quite a bit either way you go- left or right. Ran into quite a few joggers trying to beat the morning heat. The canal follows and is right next to the main road. Water is calm and views are nice in the morning. Wouldn't want to be stuck out there though when the sun fully comes out...

This park is so poorly taken care of. You would think that with the area being affluent and good schools along with high taxes, they could maintain this gem of a park. I go here 2 times per day as it is right down the street from my home. It used to be very well kept but sadly is in a state of decline. The original landscape mowing guy died during Covid along with one of the supervisors. The irrigation tech retired. According to an employee, they do not have enough manpower. I don't believe that as I drive to other nearby parks that look great. I'm not sure what the real story is, but it starts with management. Someone...
