I don't usually fill out reviews on places that we stay, since most are acceptable... but we were very disappointed in the lack of cleanliness of our cabin and felt it worth reporting, particularly since the reviews of the Alpine Group LLC are primarily positive.
My guy and I stayed in one of the smaller cabins (Bearadise) and we brought our dog (which was negotiated for a fee with the main office. We did appreciate this). We checked in late & found our envelope with key at the office as promised. We had some difficulty finding our cabin using the map provided by the office. The cabin was small and cute, and overpowering plug-in air-freshener by the door. The table was set with 2 welcoming place settings but we found a USED plastic TOOTHPICK in one of the tea-cups set out for us on the table.
The bedspread (which we usually remove anyway) had crusted cheesy potato chips on the underside and the spare bedding in stored the armoire was filthy. Was very relieved to find a stackable washer-dryer so we would have clean linens after a proper wash and dry of the spare linens!
More as an FYI than a complaint, the cabin decor was dated, faucet handles were loose or broken, little to no water pressure in the shower, and the hot tub (which was actually clean) broke after our first night.
We reported the lack of cleanliness to the office and were given a sympathetic shrug.
During a walk around the cabin area, I was stopped by a woman asking for directions to a particular cabin that she had been hired to clean. It became clear that Alpine Group LLC hires random individuals to clean their cabins and there is no confirmation, other than complaints or lack thereof, that a suitable clean is actually done.
We are planning a return trip in the fall with several physician colleagues and their families from the hospital where we work. We will NOT be renting a cabin through Alpine Group LLC due to the utter lack of predictability regarding level of cabin cleanliness and complete absence of oversight from the...
Read moreI was in their Luzerne Villa for a week. First things first the house is located at an amazing height and the scenery from the balconies is beyond amazing! Which is why we choose this house in the first place. I liked the interior of the house and we were quite comfortable ( family of 5). However there were a few things I wasn't really happy about.
There were many rules that the guests had to follow, and if they didn't then there were threats of deposit money reduction e.g ( you couldn't use towels to wash your face, there was a charge for stained towels!)
The TV in the living room is placed awfully. It was a very small TV that is at one corner of the living room and placed at a height. My family of 5 was not able to all comfortably enjoy the TV from the sofa because the sofa was too small, and there was only one, and because the TV was at such a ridiculous location!
We all really wished there was a surround sound system in the house. We enjoy watching movies a lot, however having issues with the volume and the location of the TV was just annoying. There was even a threat that if the TV is moved then the GPS system will call the cops and we would be charged for that! That was just an unnecessary threat to be honest, if they just changed the way their living room is then maybe people won't have to move that TV! The basement space is just wasted in a breakfast table and foosball table, maybe instead they could make a surround sound system and a nice sitting arrangement there instead.
The Jacuzzi had some dangerous chemicals in them, all of our swimwear changed color.
There needed to be a decent pan in the house, the kitchen just didn't have enough pots and pans. We wished the owner of the house could add a little more pans and throw the broken stuff away ( yes broken kitchen items).
Other than these few things the house was good. We enjoyed the...
Read moreI do not usually take the time to even fill out a comment card; however, I do have to write with letter about the most amazing and personalized service my family and I have ever received.
We rented the Almost Paradise Cabin #007 for a family vacation August 1st – 4th that included 8 guests. Upon arriving in Gatlinburg we were tired and impatient looking for our cabin, and we were provided a map but we quickly gave up and called for help. When we called the Alpine Chalet Rental office for help, much to our surprise, James offered to meet us at the Aquarium (located near the cabin) and have us follow him up the mountain.
You can’t imagine how relieved we were to have someone that knew exactly how to locate the cabin. He was the most helpful and friendly person I have ever dealt with, he told us it was no problem and when the remainder of our party arrived if needed he could escort them also. Luckily the remainder of our party located the cabin with no problem. It might seem like a small thing having someone escort you to the cabin, but it got our vacation off to a perfect start. I am sure that James had many other issues to deal with at that moment, but he made up feel like the only guests Alpine Chalet Rentals had.
We were not even home when we started planning our next trip to the Smokey Mountains. We would never consider staying with anyone else except Alpine due to the terrific service the entire staff provided, but especially James.
The cabin was amazing and I could not believe the value. I thought the cabin would be nice, it was outstanding. I expected to barely have enough dishes to get by, but was very impressed by the quality and quantity of all kitchen appliances and necessities. The cabin was so nice it was tempting to stay there instead of sight-seeing, but we did our...
