One of our favorite parks, after freedom park. This parks splash pad is THE BEST splash pad I've ever experienced outside of a water park, it is amazing, it's a noticeable degrees color on the pad then it is in the rest of the park, multiple age group areas of equipment, but former 2 year old (now 4 with a 2 year old, and 1 year old sister) worked all areas just fine, and then the walk around the lake is nice, leads to a trail right behind the park that's popular, paved so I've taken a stroller down it no problem, great for biking, and biking with trailers for littles to ride smoothly, a good amount of different directions to explore, and one way leads to a free museum that sometimes does 2 dollar tours of some homes they built to show how James k Polk would have lived, and this museum just started updates for the first time since the 80s to include the un named so that part of the exhibit mentions the humans, heniously, owned, and how one man Elias actually grew up with James, and become part of politics himself, and women's impact in nc, including black women which I appreciate so much as a homeschool mom. So we park, we splash sometimes we take a walk under the trees, and hit the museum, and the park has a record center on it which even if your not a citizen of pineville you can go in there, and full up water bottles if you run low. Only thing I hope they change for the future is covering the equipment with a canopy, because it can get very hot, and use too much water those days wetting the slides before anyone goes down, but other then that it's great, and also the lake allows fishing so my girls have practiced casting, and reeling in with their toddler poles out there. I love this park and freedom so much that I have honestly become emotional when talkin about moving to a...
Read moreReally nice park. Nice playgrounds here too. It has mulch instead of the soft stuff (just to keep that in mind). Although they have begun putting that spongy material in more areas around the playground (so I guess we'll see). They also have a lot of events at this location (such as movie night or live bands) I included some of the more recent posters with that information along with this review. It also has a splash park here for the kids (during the appropriate seasons, of course). It also has a nice lake to take photos in front of or sit & relax & have a picnic next to as well. There are different areas along the lake that are designed to let you get a little closer to it. There's more than one playground here too so you already know my kid loves it here. They have swings here. They also have one zip line swing. Please note, as of September 2023 the Zip line is no longer working. There is no swing and There is nothing in its place. There are some slides as well. No sand pits or seesaw's exist here (to my knowledge). There is a stage here that my kid plays on (whenever it's open and they don't have anything going on there) so they can pretend to be their amazing superstar self. There's even pretend "dinosaur bones" here that the kids can climb on. My kid calls this place "The dinosaur park" for that very reason (even though that's obviously not the name of this place). It's nice. We go often. A lot of people being their dogs here and I've noticed a lot of people having picnics...
Read moreAbsolutely love this park!!! Lots of equipment for the kiddos to play on, Nice cafeteria style seating (with fans!!!) for the quick picnic or party. We happened to come on a day the icecream man showed up so it was perfect timing. After watching the kiddos swing on the swings for a bit while overlooking the lake either from sitting on the adult double seater swing nearby or pushing them we headed over to the splash pad which was amazing to cool off during the summer. There were more picnic style seating on this side of the park but it is located a small walk across the way past the amphitheater. If I hadn't seen the pictures online I would've never known it was there. There is also an outdoor mini gym. Apparently my husband read they do morning workouts there where you just show up anyone is welcome. Such a cool park, one of our family favorites...
