This park is pretty large and has some diverse terrain.
At one end, there's a tiny public pool surrounded with barbed wire fences.
Not far from the pool is a large duck pond. Unfortunately the architect thought it would be a good idea to add a water jet in the center that blasts the duck pond water 30 feet into the air. There is a lot of wind in pittsburg and you'll find yourself being misted with the duck water.
The rough deteriorating concrete pathway around the pond is covered with duck feces and makes navigating very tricky for people with disabilities. if you use a wheelchair, consider trying another park.
At the other end there is a play structure and tan bark, 2 small child swings, and rusty jagged drainage entrance. The drain has a concrete drop of about 5 feet above it, and is situation between the two play areas. Very dangerous for small kids.
The grassy area between the major areas of the park is rough and the grass is not well maintained.
Parking is located completely out of sight and on the far sides of the park. The parking lot is well out of sight of the street so don't leave any valuables in the car.
There isn't a whole lot of great things to say about this park, but it is definitely better than a few others in pittsburg/antioch.
This park needs to be better maintained, the duck pond needs to be cleaner to be spraying everyone with the water, and the dangerous drain should...

Met other nice people here in the same situation, but each person has their own unique story! Some of the community comments about this Park and the narrow minded people who publically state their selfish views. The Apostle James, said it best for those whose chances are nil in "finding the Kingdom of Heaven," Faith without works is dead!"
God Bless the kind pepple who found the "Kingdom" at this beautiful and well maintained COP facility. Congrats to all the City Public Works employees who go the extra mile to keep it that way but for others to enjoy!
A special to "Thank You" to the COP Public Works Director for opening the bathrooms for public use after closing them for 6 months due to be "one rotten apple!" And to our COP Parks Department friend, Oscar, who got locked in bathroom and called 911 to get out! Lol

Read moreBuchanan Park is one of the most special places in the world. It's got the most precious ducking goose pond in the middle and it has all these little areas checked in where you can spend time with your loved ones and family. The area is home to a bunch of Italians Americans and there's the greatest bocce ball court I've ever seen in my whole life. It's active and the people are kind and generous. So if you got a chance and you're going to Bay point or Pittsburg California stop at Buchanan Park have some lunch feed the geese and the ducks and have a beautiful day with your family. There is a homeless stuck there who's all by himself his wings are clipped and he is a talker if you get a chance seek him out and give him a little treat he's got a pretty rough little life. Enjoy Buchanan Park if you miss it you're missing out on an added opportunity...
