It's a used clothing store masquerading as an upscale retailer.
They take hours to go through your clothes. The first time we tried was on a Saturday and we were told it would take 4 hours to go through my daughter's 1 bag. We went back a few days later on a Tuesday afternoon. I watched them and it was one young lady making all the decisions. My daughter had a large bag full of high end brand name popular clothes in good condition (some things worn only a couple of times or not at all). After 3 hours of waiting they told us the offer was ready and proceeded to give the entire bag back to us saying they weren't accepting summer clothes since we are moving into fall. Had there been some sort of signage to that affect we would not have wasted 3 hours in the store waiting (it was commute time and would have taken over an hour to get back to the store from our home). We were told some of the clothes were stained, they weren't. I saw many, many stained pieces on the racks so that definitely isn't a deal breaker for other "buyers". The person that was "buying" the day we went in was borderline rude and condescending. There were 2 other workers as well, 1 busied herself ignoring all of the customers and wore ear buds and the 3rd one seemed to help more but also was not very friendly. All 3 of them seemed like they hated their job, I don't blame them really...it seems like a miserable place to work and smelled like, well, old clothes. It's not really clean, I found dead bugs and layers of dust in different areas of the store (including shelving for hair items and jewelry), the advertising images resemble the images on sewing pattern packages from the 80's (same faded coloring and all) and you really don't have to go any further then the first set of racks because anything worth looking at would be there, and even then many of those pieces had stains and/or holes.
Another odd thing that seems like a win, win for the store (and not the customer) is that you have until the end of the business day to pick up your offer and any clothes they didn't take. If you can't get back by the end of that business day they will take the clothes they wanted without paying you and only give you a store credit and donate the rest of your clothes. I guess you are out of luck if you can't find anything you like in there. My daughter can always find arm loads of items she likes... She only found 1 thing here and felt that she needed to wash it twice in hot, hot water when we got home.
If you like to thrift, check this place out (although it's really nothing special). If you want to sell, it's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIād give ZERO stars if I could. They stole from me. Donāt make the same mistake I did by ever stepping foot in there. I brought 2 bags of clothes and shoes Plato's Closet in Pleasanton to consign. The store didn't return one of my bags. They said they mistakenly gave it to someone else. It was in large Marshalls bag with lemons š so whoever took it... seems sketchy. They called around and said they figured out who it was - and a few days later, the lady brought the bag back. (!!!) So l drove back a few days ago. But when I looked through it, 7 of the 12 pairs of shoes were missing and it was all of the new/expensive ones (Uggs, Rothy's, Madewell etc- retail was probably $1k). They were underneath the clothes and some of those were missing too, but I don't have "before" pictures of the clothes. only of the shoes. Since the shoes were under the clothes, they can't say that they fell out. Someone had to dig through the bag. And it was the expensive ones that were all gone. This lady called today and said the owner wasn't gonna do anything because I don't have any proof that they were ever brought to begin with. I filed a police report, and a report with the BBB. I do happen to have a picture of the shoes (I had an organizer help me so l had a pictures of certain things that went straight into the bags). I checked Yelp and there were at least 7? other people who had said the store had stolen things from them too. This store is based on TRUST and can't just steal peoples things...itās sickening they get away with it. I hope they start taking accountability, return my items and stop...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHorrible experience selling with this exact plato's location. They completely lowball you on items... i've been to the plato's closet in Monterey which let me start by saying the pay is way better and are punctual and clear with how their process is. From the beginning they told me the authentication for my shoes would be 45 minutes and i ended up leaving from there until 8:30 pm. My initial arrive time was 4:30 by the way. I brought some gucci shoes that are worth 800 and offered me 135 for them which is insane the shoes were in pretty good condition. I also took other branded clothes like true religion, polo, billionaire boys and some gym shark to witch they took almost everything and in the end offered me a total for the gucci shoes and those clothes 150 dollars??! Then when i asked the cashier to set me a specific price for how much each jacket was the true religion one and the polo one she was super confused and having a hard time while her "manager" was just watching her struggle. This is by far my worst experience I have had selling and don't recommend anyone to sell here if your selling any brand clothes . They are extremely unprofessional and they will lowball you. Your better going of to the location in Monterey they are the best there!!! You get actual fair prices !! Not to mention I drove from far away trying to try a new destination biggest...
