We are 30 minutes away, but this is the closest good Mongolian BBQ to us. Our family loves good Mongolian BBQ, and this is excellent. We really like fresh pocket bread/flat bread BUT this place does NOT have bread. I like a cold one with a spicy bowl, but it also does NOT have beer or wine. Nevertheless, it gets 5 stars.
It does have unlimited, self-serve, white rice and excellent self serve unsweetened ice tea. The ingredients available are superior, fresh, plentiful, and with a wide variety. You get to pack the bowl yourself (including the meats). The sauces are also top notch (and include a variety of spicy options). Don't miss the topping tray (hidden just PAST the cooktop - including spices and sesame seeds)!
I am a very big boy, with a hardy appetite, but one (really packed) bowl has always been more than enough for me. We are expert architects creating stable bowls many inches over the edge, so the inexperienced, timid, or famished may want to take advantage of the two bowls deal.
The ambiance is a clean and pleasant 1980's strip-mall joint, quite acceptable for Mongolian BBQ. This is self-serve, so service is not much of an issue, but the cashier and cook were great each time we have been. The chef often does not speak much english.
Another review referenced specific chefs on specific days...it seems this is no longer the case. BUT some chefs DO use substantially more water than other chefs. Ask cashier, or watch one bowl cook, before adding your sauces (double sauce for large...
Read moreHello all, SpenDoe here! Once again, I am bringing you a review of another restaurant. This place happens to be one of my favorites. I'm a big fan of Mongolian grill. Gobi Mongolian Grill is an awesome place. I love it. Sadly, you cannot eat inside, due to Covid restrictions. This is take-out only for now. Once I found out they were open for take-out only, I decided to take that 1.5 hour drive for a bite to eat. protocol is safe, and environment is always clean. Food items remain fresh, and staff is always willing to accommodate. I stopped by today to grab a bite to eat, after my doctors appointment. I love the garlic and spicy chili oil. If you are unfamiliar with how to create your Mongolian meals flavor, they have a large visible sign in front of the sauces. The sign will tell you how much of each flavor to add. You can also freestyle, and create your own flavors. They have chicken, beef, lamb, pork, imitation crab, turkey sausage sliced, cocktail shrimp, and tofu. They also have a wide assortment of vegetables to choose from. Try Gobi, you won't be disappointed. I have also been to Gobi's San Jose, CA location on Brokaw Rd. I have nothing but great things to say about that...
Read moreCame here for dinner. First time for me. Typical (small) Mongolian grill set up. Frozen/fresh meat/seafood (imitation crab-surimi) section, veggie section and sauces section. Then you add ingredients to your liking. You use 2-bowls, one for meat/seafood, one for veggies. They have about 6-8 eight sauces to top it off with and then take them to the grill cooks. Who (supposedly), take the bowls in the order you give it to them, to grill your food.
Food was good (why I even gave it 3-stars), service was NOT. When I returned to do a 2nd trip (it is all you can eat), my bowl sat on the counter for over 8-minutes (it wasn't busy at all, either). Not only did they (grill cooks) take/cook the person's food behind me (before me) but these grill cooks let my bowl sit there (uncooked). As a matter of fact, they even cleaned around my bowl (sitting there on the counter) before they (finally) put my bowl contents on the grill. I have NO idea why they made me wait? So, I went up to the cashier, paid for my meal and left. Probably, never to return again. There are other choices folks have for this kind of food. I will chose those instead of...
