I’ve taken my dogs to Lighthouse Park / Dog Beach for over 18years. Recently while walking my dog in the dog friendly park ; I was stopped by a Beach Patrol officer ; “Dixon”, who said that I was violating a Beach policy and that now the is under Beach Patrol authority and if I didn’t move, he would write me a ticket. Since I was nowhere near the actual beach and there were no signage except dog friendly signage I questioned his policy. I then went to the boardwalk where the signage is have a great dog friendly day. He waited 10 minutes for my return and without warning he forced my hands behind my back a cuffed me which resulted in bloody wrist; he then forced me to his truck making me stand in the sun with my dog while he wrote a citation. Long story; I notified the sheriff and county commissioner and had a meeting with the director and Dixon and four other armed/ Kevlar vest Beach Patrol officers. They negated the citation. Read moreThis place is great!!! Absolutely dog heaven if your dog likes water. Both awesome sunrise's and sunsets. The park is very well maintained and the frequent marine life is always cool to see . There are both open shower and foot rinse stations with restrooms. The view of the lighthouse Ponce inlet and Atlantic ocean makes this a favorite place to hang out with man's best friend. Usually the gate attedent will give the dog a treat upon entree and there are normally dog bags available on post witch means there are no excuses clean up after your fury friend. Definitely...

Today some Karen called the police when several dogs who were all well behaved off leash playing with with eachother not bothering anyone. She came to the dog beach, without a dog, by herself. There are 100s of people beaches in Florida and you ruin the dog beach for everyone else.
Ponce inlet dog beach should just be a fenced in dog park rather than having owners tangling themselves and their dogs with unnecessary rules.
