Upon arrival, we were greeted by an inconceivable sight – the very building housing our rented condo was a skeletal construction site! A gaping hole replaced an entire wall, exposing the unit to the elements. Construction workers casually informed us that their work would continue until 8 pm that day, resuming at the crack of dawn the next morning. How could Port A Escapes, the supposed professionals, allow guests to be subjected to such perilous conditions? Astoundingly, the blame-shifting began when we reached out for assistance.
In a state of utter shock and disbelief, I contacted Port A Escapes to rectify the situation and find a solution for our stranded group. Instead of empathy or accountability, we were met with an infuriating display of arrogance. The manager's response can only be described as a tirade of unprofessionalism. She berated me for daring to call and insisted it was impossible for her to know about the ongoing demolition. As if her indignation weren't enough, she heartlessly informed me that all their other units were fully booked, leaving us no alternative accommodations. Frustratingly, she assured me of a refund in a week's time before abruptly hanging up.
But the saga didn't end there. In a shocking display of callousness, Port A Escapes took it upon themselves to block my number, effectively cutting off any chance of communication. When my friends attempted to reach out, they were met with the same fate – blocked numbers and a chilling silence. Stranded, with no options or alternatives, we were left to fend for ourselves in an unfamiliar location, hours away from home.

Read moreWe arrived at the condo after a very long exhausting night and morning of travel, only to discover dead bed bugs on the floor near one of the beds. As is my standard practice, I conducted a thorough inspection for bed bugs before bringing any of our belongings inside. I called to report the issue and was told someone would be sent within the hour to verify. However, no one arrived for 2.5 hours, and when they finally did, they confirmed the presence of bed bugs. We were then told we needed to vacate the property and that no alternative accommodations would be provided due to company policy, claiming potential risk of transferring the bed bugs elsewhere. This reasoning was particularly frustrating, considering we had not even brought a single item into the condo. We were left scrambling to find last-minute lodging for the entire week, completely on our own. When I spoke with the manager, I was met with a callous and dismissive attitude. I was told, “What more do you want me to do besides refund your money? I've been on the clock for literally 12 minutes. The condo owner is already going to be out a lot of money for pest control.”. While I understand this is a financial burden for the owner, it felt as though our situation and stress were being minimized and brushed aside. To make matters worse, the unit itself was in unacceptable condition. Aside from the bed bugs, the condo was not properly cleaned and hadn't been for awhile. There was a used pregnancy test on the floor near the couch, whole Doritos chips (not just crumbs) left on the couch, food and grease on the stovetop, thick grime built up on the floor near the oven, and hair scattered throughout both bathrooms and could tell the floors had not been swept or mopped anywhere inside the condo. I got closer to inspect the floor for bed bugs, I found a disgusting amount of dirt and food debris around and under all four beds. It was obvious the unit hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly in some time. If proper cleaning protocols had been followed, the bed bugs would have been discovered, our reservation canceled and we should have been offered assistance securing alternative accommodations. Instead, we were left stranded and unsupported. This is our second disappointing experience with Port A Escapes. Last year, the cleaning crew had to return to finish cleaning the bathroom, which had been completely missed. Unfortunately, this most recent incident shows a pattern of negligence and lack of accountability. We expected more from a professional property management company. *Edited this a week later to include they filter and approve only good reviews about the individual vacation rental on their website. Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience with this company. Poor details were given on Airbnb to make us think it was a homeowner renting us the property when it was this company. Beautiful home so this does not go to the property owners but only 1 of the 3 or 4 people we spoke with in the office gave acceptable customer service. The home we were staying in “magestic sun” has since been taken down from Airbnb so I can’t leave this there but the home was INFESTED with cockroaches. We were finding them in our clothes, kitchen, bedrooms, trashcan, COUCH, CHAIRS, EVERYWHERE. We were told they were common to the island but NONE of the neighbors we spoke with had this problem INSIDE. When we called to see if relocating was an option we were met with disregard. Finally the woman, Sarah, said she would speak with Airbnb & the property owners. There wasn’t another property available which is understandable and they offered to have someone come spray - however the gentleman that came was not only aggressive but as unprofessional as the office staff. He had no uniform and no marked truck. He became angry in the few minutes when 2 young women in our party asked the question if it would make more appear on the final night of our stay and if it was a danger to our pet. He walked away angry, saying “Y’all aren’t paying me. You just want something for free.” He said his name was Freddy Thrasher when I asked and proceeded to drive away. When we called the office baffled by this 5 minute interaction, they claimed “it’s a he-said-she-said situation” and they could not “make him come back.” We were asking if absolutely nothing could be done since our vacation had been basically ruined & other reviews mentioned accommodations or partial refunds. They said we were welcome to checkout early, otherwise we would have to get in contact with Airbnb ourselves (after she claimed earlier to be doing so already). So no pest control was done, and the office gave 0 consideration to our group as paying customers who were fending off roaches by the 10s. As someone in the customer service industry, I have never experienced such poor service from a company & could not imagine treating someone this way.
