Va va voom. My sweet friend and I decided to order in in celebration of the New Year. We flipped a coin on whether to go here or to another Indian spot, and y'all, I cannot stress enough how lucky my friend and I are to have found ourselves on this side of culinary reality. When it comes to Indian food (or food period) in Portland we have not had better in our combined two decades living here. As you can see in our photos, we ordered multiple dishes. We asked the friendly man at the window what was a "must try". He asked if we liked creamy, to which we gave a resounding yes. Then he recommended the butter chicken. We ordered sampler style, encouraged by the beautiful display of each of their dishes to try new things. While we waited, I all but chugged a very yummy mango lassi.
So, the empty palette in the photos was the butter chicken, which was drinkable to say the least. I wanted to shower in it. A beautiful orange color with tender chicken. Definitely the star of the show, but all the other dishes we ordered were brilliant. The rice was great and the naan was soft and garlicky, not to mention wrapped delicately. First time having this place and absolutely not the last. I pray that Firangi Dhaba sticks around, but I am unashamed to say I would follow them to the end of the Earth. Many thanks to the chef for giving me and my friend such a warm welcome to...
Read moreWe went to the Barley Pod with plans to get food from one of our usual carts, but noticed this new cart and Indian food was sounding really good so we thought we would try it. HOLY MOLY it was amazing! It was some of the best Indian food we've had anywhere (we've been to San Francisco, NYC, and London), and definitely the best we've had in Portland. We ordered two of our benchmark dishes: chicken tikka masala and palak paneer. Both were incredibly flavorful and different from any we've had before. We cannot wait to try more of his food! Be patient as I think he makes everything from scratch, which takes time. Delivery is also available via DoorDash. Highly...
Read moreThis place is good if u are new to Indian food! I ordered Kati roll which I have had many times. It was sweet and lacked flavor but portion is good size. This is an objective review. Everyone should try the place and decide for themselves. I also noticed they use a lot of food coloring which I don’t when I cook at home. Their pics also show the food coloring it’s not yellow like Turmeric. I know what Indian food should taste like since I’m a foodie! Food should touch your soul everytime we eat out that’s just my opinion others may think differently but I’m entitled...
