Fort Allen Park — Attraction in Portland

Me and my brother came here to just talk and enjoy the water,he had been in a motorcycle accident a while ago prior to coming here he still had some injuries and is honestly lucky to be alive!!! It seemed as if people were looking at us funny judging my brother on the way he looks because of his injuries judging me for the way I was dressed in the place that we were in as we were driving a Land Rover!! It is just sick and sad the way the world is becoming and how in-humane humans are! It is a beautiful place but what was not beautiful was the way me and my brother were treated and looked at! THAT IS NOT OK!!! NOBODY KNOWS WHAT SOMEBODY ELSE IS GOING THROUGH SO EVERYBODY SHOULD JUST HAVE SYMPATHY EMPATHY AND COMPASSION AND UNDERSTANDING FOR OTHER HUMAN BEINGS! WOW! Expansive! Maintained! Incredible! Adjectives! Thesaurus! Awesome! Enjoyable! WOAH 😳! I was finishing a trail when I came upon this park. There is so much to explore as well as just sitting down to relax and take in the great views of Casco Bay and Fort Gorges. There are several war memorials and a memorial to 9-11. A playground, basketball 🏀 court, tennis 🎾 courts and a community garden are nearby. Green hills, where people were sitting or laying down relaxing 😎. There is parking 🅿️ either on the street above the park or at the bottom of the park. You can access the park from the rail trail along the waterfront. Trash cans are available but I still found litter 🚯. Fortunately, it was very, very limited. I recommend a visit to this park! If you don't mind hills that are not alive to the sound of music...

We stayed a short time bc we did not know to take a bathroom stop first. Nearest port-a-pot was on the very busy playground further down on the promenade. Saying this, so you come prepared, bc I would happily have spent a couple more hours here. Will be back. Peaceful. Beautiful view. Good parking options. Great kid and picnic place with both nice sidewalk and trail options - although those are definitely not accessible by wheelchair - the outlooks off of the parking lot are, so still a great shorter stop if you aren't walking it OR need a potty stop 😉.
