Came in on a Wednesday at around 1 PM to try a few flights. They have some indoor seating, but we opted for the outdoor tent. Shortly after we were seated, there were a few parties lining up to wait for a table, so we were lucky we didn't have to wait.
A flight of four beers is $10 so my fiance and I got a flight each. Here is what we had:
CBD Organic Blueberry Seltzer - was intrigued since neither of us had a CBD drink before, but this tasted like a raspberry Emergen-C
Tap O' The Morning - this was an Irish stout, which I didn't think I would like since I don't like maple, but it ended up being one of my favorites of the flights
Shipyard Summer Ale - light and refreshing. Since we went at the beginning of September, I really appreciated the fact that they still had summer beers but were also bringing out the fall beers already too
Smashed Pumpkin - not a fan of pumpkin beers but fiance loved this one
Melon - this was so good! So much so that we ended up buying some to bring back. Trying to hold onto summer for as long as I can
Sunfish - another good summer beer. It's grapefruit and it's very light
Blue Paw Blueberry Ale - didn't care for this. I'm starting to think I just don't like blueberry drinks
Black is Beautiful - I love stouts but even this one was a bit too bitter for me
Really glad we got to try all these beers. Flights are usually hit or miss but we liked most of the beers we tried.
Note - the servers are really nice, but some of the staff working in the store are a bit rude. They will straight up see you waiting by the register to ask a question and then purposely walk away.
Tip - they close at 6 PM so make sure...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreACCESSIBILITY AUDIT: Shipyard is accessible to people with mobility (dis)abilities, though it isn't marked well until you get outside.
If you try to enter the taproom from the main entrance, there are a flight of stairs down, so you may think it's inaccessible. However, if you go through the gift shop, take a left upon entering, you can go down a ramp to the taproom.
I hope management responds to this review by putting up signs with arrows at the taproom entrance and gift shop entrances and maybe an arrow on the gift shop floor to make it clearer that wheelchair users can access the space.
Thank you for keeping the door propped open so that it was more accessible to enter. Please also move the sidewalk gift shop sign towards the far door rather than in the middle and right in front of the entryway. Where it was positioned centrally, it was too difficult to get inside with a wheelchair or stroller and that's an easy thing to train staff.
The taproom has a lowered bar section too. šš½
There is one section of bathrooms that are not accessible but there is a small sign (shown) that directs you to where the accessible restrooms are.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreShipyard is a really cool brewery to check out when in downtown Portland. They are of course most famous for their pumpkin beer, which they start serving on August 1. Their selection of beer is decent and they pair up with Seadog Brewing so they had 20 beer on tap when we visited. There are tables set up and there is a good amount of space with even a few tables set up outside too. They have food available too if you need a bite to eat.
My wife and I both ordered flights of beer which are 4 sample sized pours of your choice. We ordered a margarita pizza also. The pizza took less than 10 minutes to be made, but the chef put a balsamic glaze on it, which it was not supposed to come with (see the menu for the description). I unfortunately don't like balsamic so the chef was kind enough to make another one without it like the menu described. I honestly was not a fan of the pizza and wouldn't order it again. It tasted alright, but the mozzarella cheese was so thick and dense and wasn't particularly melted that it eventually made my wife and I feel a bit nauseous later. Don't get me wrong, we love cheese but we felt like we ended up eating like a 1.5 lb block of cheese. It just didn't sit the same way as...
