Multnomah County Library - Woodstock — Attraction in Portland

The desk worker I had to deal with to get a print done dismissed me to the information booth by laughing and saying "go there because they will believe you". Meanwhile I'm just trying to print three pages and am uninvested in the fact that she is obviously overcompensating for the fact that she could not understand how to operate the printing system. I even explained to her I didn't think it was her fault it wasn't working (it actually was but I was being nice and trying to get out asap) but she continued to be unpleasant and infantilize me over a printer. The Woodstock Library not only has a warm and accepting community of staff, but also the books have great variety. The librarians and volunteers are all happy to be there and do their jobs. The only reason I give 4 stars is because sometimes the people inside are not always getting books, but getting free wifi, hanging out in aisles, and it makes the library seem a little less friendly, but all the more...

Why gatekeep books? Why must people go in for a library card when all they want to do is use the online platform or the Libby app? What about homebound folks or those with schedules that don’t allow for getting there? You’d think a librarian would be happy people were reading and signing up to check out books.
