Great Rock climbing place for adults and older kids, itās clean and great equipment. However, anyone with high energy kids younger than 7, I would not recommend at all. It is not kid friendly, even with a kid playing area, itās right next to the workout equipment which they are not allowed near and only separated by a single rope. We were at a very large kids festival 3 months ago and an employee was passing out $5 off coupons (with no expiration dates that I could see) to everyone there with kids, and it even advertised kids birthday parties etc on the coupon so because of the kids festival and kids parties, I assumed wrongly that it would be a very kid friendly place. A friend and I decided to try it out for the first time and have a play date and let our boys get some winter cabin fever out climbing. They did not accept their own coupon which is fine,it was only $5 anyways but one of the employees there made it very clear that our children were not welcome and he was very short and rude with us all. No one explained anything to us when we got there and checked in for the first time, as far as not knowing their specific etiquette or rules etc. we went in clueless with no direction from them. For my almost 9 and almost 7 year old, it is very fun for an hour or two of climbing, they really enjoyed it but it was also almost $50 for just the two of them to climb, so very pricey for just an hour or two of fun for kids. For our kids that were between 3-6 yrs, it was not a good fit at all. If you have kids under 7 and are looking to burn off energy or have a play date, jump for joy or a trampoline park etc would for sure be a much better fit in my experience. I may go back with my older sons at some point but will never have another play date there and I will not bring my younger son until heās a bit older. My husband stopped by on his way home from work to check it out since he is a rock climber and was stoked to get to see his boys try it and see if he would want to take them another time but he also noticed the rudeness and shortness of the one employee. Just wanted to share for any other moms that are looking for kids indoor winter play experiences that also have littler...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a business, it's run very well. Clean, kind staff, good (& painless) orientation video, open right at business hours. No gaps in bouldering padding. Placing a kid's climbing area upstairs, away from the main area, is a great layout choice. Seems like they reset fairly often, as none of the holders were getting grimy.
As far as equipment: they have a nice workout area upstairs, permanent 40 degree moonboard, around 13 ft bouldering walls and 20 ft roped walls. It's mostly a bouldering gym, and I only visited to boulder.
Setting was flowy with good use of volumes to break up the mostly vertical walls. The boulders were all good individually, but across the whole gym felt a little same-y. Didn't feel like different routes had their own character. Like different routes emphasizing laybacks, or crimps, or slopers, or footwork, or whatever. Overall, most routes climb exactly like they look and a bit more complexity would be fun to see. Also, not many routes with sustained intensity. I think some of this comes down to not that may wall angles for the setters to work with. It's mostly vertical plus/minus a few degrees with one brief overhung section (and no roof sections). Despite the availability of slab walls, there wasn't much slab-style climbing (limited hands, balencey). For a gym which hasn't been open all that long, everything is very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe hosted my sons fifth birthday here and I am so glad we did. The staff were incredibly helpful and considerate as our entire group were new to climbing. All of the kids were thrilled, one commented that there was "so much to do" and the adults are already making plans to utilize the gym in their free time. The room set up for us to use for a party space was perfect, we had just enough space and they included setting up tables for us and some decorations which helped us out. Highly recommend and can't...
