What happened? 5 star company 18 months ago. I just tried to use their lifetime warranty on the most recent holster I purchased (OWB Cloak) in March, like 4 months ago. Alien gear no longer has a lifetime warranty. They sent me 12 promotional emails last week, but never an email saying they were going to end their warranty and start shipping garbage. the paddle broke on my holster. I have two of the older ones (one is 8 and one is 7 years old) with the alien heads for paddles. They still work fine. The new design broke in less than 4 months of everday use. The customer service person is sending me TWO free paddles (normally 9.99), why TWO? because she expects them to break again. I asked about the warranty on the things that I did purchase under the lifetime warranty (two OWB holsters, two pocket holsters, two shoulder holsters, three IWB, and two drop leg). Well, the warranty no longer applies to these products either. the shoulder holsters were $250 each and I purchased them because of the warranty. Well, the leather got too expensive and Alien Gear disconntinued them and I am "out of luck" on the warranty (if needed) for those. to be very clear: this was a quality company that decided to cut quality to make money, and they cut the warranty unless the product arrives damaged, in which case why the heck are they even shipping a defective product? apparently they are saving money with quality control too. I guess this is on me for purchasing my first holster in 2016 before I invented a time machine and then traveled forward in time to say, yesterday (2025) to find out that I would be buying something under a useless warranty, not just something but a piece of junk that didn't do its job for 4 months. I would have given them 5 stars 2 years ago. Alien Gear, your new business model is horrible and your brand reputation will take a lot of damage if you keep selling junk like the $90 Cloak OWB holster that you shipped to me in March.
Yes, I am aware the shapeshift systems exist and even purchased one. Talk about a jack of all trades that is horrible at all of them. I hate it. it is absolutely confusing, nothing fits correctly, there are several points that will absolutely fail, but hey don't worry alien gear has a lifetime warranty, until they didn't. True the pocket holsters are shapeshift (or were), and it did take me forever to figure out my first one because of all the extra bs included with it. The pocket holsters only work if you have huge pockets, which I do.
I understand that designs and products change, just understand that I am telling you that every change alien gear has made in the past 3 years is an effort to maximize their profits, at the expense of the product and the customer.
The movie "Tommy Boy" comes to mind, but they didn't even bother to scrawl warranty on the box they took a dump in and mailed to me...
Read moreTerrible experience. I’ve been looking for a concealed holster for over a year. I reached out to this company and asked a question about a holster specifically, and I received a response about four or five months later. Finally, I decided I really needed a new holster and thought I would to this company out. Purchased a holster that was supposed to conceal well and took a few days for it to actually ship out.
Finally received the holster and I tried this thing at every angle I could possibly imagine, and it just did not conceal at all. Pants had a huge bulge right where my pocket is and my shirt would sit on top of a holster, making it extremely obvious I was carrying.
Their website says they won’t pay for return shipping even though they have a 30 day guarantee on all their products. I sent them an email and ask if they would pay for return shipping. After four days of no response I finally had to just ship thing back and I sent them an email letting them know I shipped it back and asked if they would pay for return shipping, again no response. A week later I got an email after normal business saying they wouldn’t pay for return shipping because I didn’t use UPS or USPS. I immediately responded and said nobody responded to my email that I sent a week prior, what was I supposed to do? I sent yet another email the next day with no response as well. Finally called this morning. Explained my situation and the rep kept telling me what my refund would be, and disregarded my ask to pay for the return shipping. I explained three or four times the situation and finally he just transfer me to a supervisor.
Supervisor got on the line and explained they are small company and that’s why they can’t respond to emails and it was my fault because I didn’t call the customer service line, instead I utilize their email customer service. The return shipping was only a little over $13, really not a huge deal however, I don’t like paying for things online that aren’t as they are described and I am forced to send them back. The supervisor then, again said well they are a small company and they have a hard time responding to emails over the holidays… It’s the end of February… Again she said it was my fault because I didn’t call the customer service line. I only used their email customer service line. Honestly, I am slammed at work all day and have difficulty finding enough time in my day to take out and call a customer service line where I know I’m gonna have to spend 20 to 30 minutes. This is why I sent an email and if a business has a customer service email I truly feel it’s their responsibility to manage a reasonable response time to customers.
I dug deeper into the company and have found numerous chat and discussion threads about their products and many individuals share the same sentiment I do, that they are not as described and they do not...
