I love this park, it has an awesome swimming area with no current, warm water and is roped off and decently shallow for kids but can get a little deeper for adults. It has well maintained and clean bathrooms, a good mix of shaded areas and sunny beach. You can park for free on the street (if there's an open spot, can be hard to find one on busy summer weekends) and walk a short distance or park inside the parking lot for a reasonable fee ($6 weekdays/$10 weekends for non-residents).
It's a great place to paddle board due to calm waters, usually not too windy and no wake zone for boats. The golden hour/sunsets are really pretty. It's an overall well maintained area with mostly respectful and polite people, unlike some other swimming areas that are a little more "wild west" with people getting crazy drunk and having large dogs run amok or starting fights, you don't see that here it's just mostly families having bbqs and swimming.
There is also a really cool trail hiking area as well with miles of trails, rock climbing spots, caves, and a lot of neat areas to scamper around and explore. It's a gorgeous area to take pictures in, I did my nieces senior photos in the hiking area with a cool little pond down on the distance as a backdrop.
The only negatives I suppose are that there can be a decent amount of goose poop sometimes but it doesn't really bother me because they are dry little logs that don't even stink you can just brush them out of the area you want to set up in. Also a lot of pine needles in the shaded area but just wear shoes or flip flops and it's a
In summary I think this is one of the best swimming spots in the area for people with kids or even without because there is tons of parking (unlike Honeysuckle Beach or Cd'A where you might have to walk 15 minutes cause parking is full and you have to park far away). Pro tip: go at like late afternoon time and it's not as crowded and you get to hang...
Read moreI've been wanting to visit this park for some time now. Looks like a great park to walk some new trails. I visited this morning, paid the $10 non resident parking fee, only to park long enough to walk to the trail entrance and find the community forest hiking trails were closed. Thank you so much Post Falls Community Parks, for thieving parking fees from unsuspecting visitors. Maybe very noticeable notification signs at the park entrance, or at the parking fee booth, or maybe even if it's not too much trouble the booth attendant could inform visitors of the community forest closure before charging the parking fee. It certainly would've given more of an in good faith impression than a dirty cheaters impression. I'd still like to see the park someday. But today was a poor experience of looking up Q'emiln park, looking at the overview, looking at the trail, seeing the ; Open - closes 9 PM , making the drive out, paying the parking fee to learn the hiking trails are closed. The Q'emiln Park seems to be a beautiful and well kept park. The only reason I really had for a downgrade in the number of stars this first visit was the unfortunate collection of a parking fee without adequate notification to visitors that the...
Read moreOur family has been coming here for many years. My daughter, my two granddaughters, and my 2 month old grandson decided to visit Q'emilin since it had been a few years. We all wanted to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and of course, get in the water! Imagine our surprise when we realized the park now charges an entrance fee of 15 bucks! To some folks this isn't a big deal, but for us it's a bit too much. People can choose to park on the public residential street (if there are spots available) if they don't want to pay the fee. The entrance fee will allow you to park closer to the water, restrooms, picnic tables, walking/hiking paths etc. With my newborn grandson and all the equipment he needs to be comfortable as well as my granddaughters and their stuff, parking on the street was a little inconvenient, but since we lucked out finding a spot across the street from a restroom and gazebo, it wasn't as bad as we imagined. To be fair, I recognize that the City of Post Falls, or whoever runs Q'emilin Park requires money to operate and maintain this local favorite. We were just surprised at the cost. Maybe there's some kind of senior discount or yearly pass I have yet...
