Review purely on the skatepark: the obstacles they have there are solid. There’s a couple major issues though. The layout of the park makes no sense, it’s hard to get a good angle to hit the straight part of the box for grinds especially with the extremely rough terrain (more on that later) making it hard to pick up speed. The curved part of the box is almost impossible to use due to the proximity to the grass. I saw in the pictures 5 years ago the box used to be reversed and closer to the ramp, I’m curious why they changed that. As for the rough ground, it is very difficult to pick up and maintain speed, and frequently there’s times when you lose all momentum from hitting an extra rough spot. Not only is this not fun, but it’s dangerous. Imagine a kid going down a smooth ramp into a rough spot where they instantly lose their speed causing them to face plant. Needless injury waiting to happen. This park was clearly not designed by skaters, it looks like Powell just bought a couple decent pieces of equipment and randomly plopped them down. My other big complaint about this park, not that there’s a lot of room for it, is so much basic stuff is missing. We have a box to grind, great. What about rails? You wouldn’t even have to pave any extra ground to add a mini ramp adjacent to the park. There are other parks not far from here where it’s hard to...
Read moreThis review is only of the disc golf park. Powell Station has a water pad and picnic area for families that will not be included in this review. I've never been to that part of the park.
The disc golf park is good but suffers from being built on a literal floodplain. Any rain fall at all makes the entire course a muddy mess.
The hole shapes and shot layout are fun and interesting. They range from around 240 to around 330.
I give it a four because some of the pads and baskets are starting to show major signs of wear and tear. Not only that, but on some holes, you are throwing back towards people on the pad tee for other holes which I hate.
I think the park could do with a couple of volunteer days and I would be happy to help if...
Read moreMy son was married here on Saturday and these are some of the decorations. The park is a kind of oasis here in the middle of a very busy Powell. It was quiet and serene, exactly what he wanted. The reason 1 star is missing is that, in spite of the obvious fact a wedding was being held here, young men threw their Frisbees right through the middle of it all when it was so easy for them to walk around it. The same thing for weekend hikers. Now these were not children, but clearly in their 20s and 30s. A couple even had to be told by...
