I loved Theatre Raleigh when they were downtown, and am happy to report that there's even more to love with their new location in North Raleigh. We recently attended the Saturday night performance of Oh What a Night after purchasing season tickets. As a theater lover who attends as many shows as I can get my hands on, I have to say that you won't find more bang for your buck anywhere else around here. Highly recommend season tickets! They do sell individual tickets for shows that don't sell out though, which is a great way to try them out if you are unsure. What makes Theatre Raleigh so special is they do such a variety of types of shows. Oh What a Night was very concert-like, with one Broadway tune after another. So entertaining! Some of the shows are strictly local talent (such as Oh What a Night), while others feature out-of-town performers. (Bridges of Madison County for instance...outstanding!) We have learned that either can be phenomenal, and nothing can be more exciting than being so close to such amazing talent. Theatre Raleigh is small, with limited seating that makes for an intimate theater experience. And due probably to donations, they manage to do so at an amazingly affordable price. Love that they are selling their own concessions now...very simple wine, popcorn & other snacks. Love that restrooms are male, female and whatever. Lobby is comfortable and much more spacious than before. Like the covid-friendly touch of an online program. Am hoping they will continue that trend to save big printing costs. We were told it's all a work in progress as it will be turned into two separate theaters plus a rehearsal space after this summer season. Much to look forward to. We are certainly looking forward to the next four shows of this season. Kudos Lauren and all others who work so hard to bring us this theater delight!

If you’re looking for a classic 1920’s Gatsby Experience, you need to look no further. From champagne towers to flappers in sequins, and the most stunning cast. Your entire group can rub shoulders with the Great Gatsby himself, and be a part of prohibition, passion, and legendary performance. A great speakeasy, roaring twenties time. You can even dress up like cast members for a total immersion experience. My entourage was two flappers (wife and niece), and myself. We made some friends along the way, but when you’re all running down an alley to avoid the coppers, you make ally’s quickly. And there are three signature drinks, each one carefully crafted in the Gatsby style the drinks range from Champagne, to; who is driving home cause it certainly ain’t gonna be me! You’ll have a fantastic time, and you don’t have to dress to Impress, but it helps.

My husband and I attended the Edgar Allen Poe Speakeasy event. The parking is all around the building. To avoid foot traffic at the front doors and for easy exit turn immediately left upon entering the lot and park on the side of the building. There were photo opportunities inside. One criticism would be that the women's restroom really needed some attention. All of the staff were dressed for the event. They even used Poe styles conversation as they answered your questions. The drinks were pretty good. I liked the Nevermore the best. The waiters that served you're drinks also were the performers. The interpretive decorations were great. Overall we really enjoyed the experience!

We went to Theatre Raleigh last night for the 1st time to see the Holiday Cabaret with Ellie Barone. Overall we had an excellent time. Easy parking, friendly employees, and they have a nice full bar plus incredible smelling popcorn. Comfortable seating… you can chose from reserved or general admission. Reserved you can chose from short bistro tables for 2 or riser theatre style seating, both were excellent views! Even the general admission seating was couches and chairs that seemed almost as nice just a tad further back from the stage but still a great choice. every seat in the house is great

They started right on time and the show ran 80 minutes with no intermission which was perfect! We liked that Ellie and “friends” (2 back up singers) started with sultry-bluesy style Christmas songs, then solos of beautiful angelic songs, then jazzy upbeat songs to end. The backup singers were excellent and Ellie’s voice is amazing!

We did see online their 2025 season and noted several shows we’d like to attend, so this was our test to see what seats we liked for future, the quality of entertainment, etc as it’s less than 30 minutes drive from our home and we’ve always been very active in the theatre seen is past cities we’ve lived in.

Everything was excellent except… we didn’t care for Ellie brought up politics “as a joke” about 6x.” Half of the audience and the country is on Santa’s naughty list, congressional hearings” and more plus we learned she’s has a girlfriend (who leads a Christmas concert letting people know your sexual preference), basically things like that sprinkled in. We came to hear her sing and be entertained with a Christmas concert not hear anyone’s “views”.

Regardless we will see another show here to make sure that was a one-off before booking season tickets. The prices are excellent and we hope to have found our new...
