Our stay started off fantastic and we enjoyed our complimentary upgrade. However, upon requesting to extend our checkout time by an hour we were rudely informed by "Dawn" that she could not honor that request due to other business associates coming in that day. Yet, she proceeds to look up our information and what room we were staying in. When Dawn noticed that we were staying in a King Suite she, again, made a very rude and demeaning comment pondering at how we could afford to stay in such a room (possibly because of our age?). Upon recognition that we were Gold Members, she reluctantly stated we could stay an extra hour, but that was the "best she could do." This experience, in my personal opinion, doesn't seem very customer service oriented.
My fiancé and I are very positive and optimistic individuals so this experience normally would not have bothered us much, except we weren't the only customers that Dawn was extremely rude to that day. While we waited in line to request a later checkout time, a couple in front of us were inquiring about extra charges on their bill. Dawn legitimately laughed at them to their face, and told one patron that she should have known better, our recollection is as follows: "being an employee of the Marriott you should've been trained and informed about this." We learned that one of the patrons must have mentioned working for the Marriott prior to us getting in line. Upon the couple reconciling their issue, they exited the Courtyard Marriott. While doing so, Dawn exchanged some unpleasant banter prior to addressing us as next in line with a flustered demeanor.
Dawn presented some of the worst customer service that we've ever experienced in our many years of traveling together. Again, we normally would not have been bothered by such an unpleasant person but the way she mistreated the other patrons left a sour taste in our mouths, which prompted us to want to report what we experienced.
We also were informed by Dawn that all Courtyards do not offer complimentary breakfast to Elite Members. Not a big deal if this is accurate information, but the way she addressed the issue was unprofessional.
We hope this goes through the right channels and is dealt with in an appropriate manner. Marriott is an incredible company with beautiful establishments around the world. We would hate to see the name "Marriott" tarnished due to a few...
Read moreFlew in late our first night there so not much went wrong that night other than card reader took about 50 swipes to unlock as the battery was on its last leg. Informed the gal at front desk the following morning as we left, that the battery in our reader needed replaced before we returned that evening. Here’s where the stars started falling… returned to find that my room key still wasn’t working and went down to front desk for assistance. I was then schooled by the front desk clerk on the properties of magnetic strips and given two room keys in which I was told one of them would definitely work. Our room is on the 3rd floor and I have installed enough of these locksets to know that if there’s nothing registering on swipe panel in terms of an amber, green, or red light - this is not a card issue, but rather a reader issue… regardless I gave the guy a fair shake and tried them, but to no avail. Returned to 1st floor only to wait for this guy to say that he’d be sending someone up. 10 minutes later snider shows up only to tell us that it’s the battery and that he’d have to go down and grab one. I just about lost it at that point but managed to hold it together until the battery was replaced 15 minutes later. Went inside the room to wash my hands and the sink shot out a bunch of air, followed by what I’d describe as murky brown water before running clear. Mattress pad wouldn’t hold the contours of hole shaped bed so I got to wake up with that half -wrapped around my neck with the pillows scattered on the floor-just where those lumps needed to be! Went to shower the following day but the water was off for awhile we were told. 2 hours later we were re-introduced to sputtering faucets and severely discolored water for a stretch before getting to run down to the 1st floor to get ice that looked anything but clear because that was the only floor that had that amenity. We were scheduled - and paid, to stay 8 nights there but only made it 6 before cutting our losses and getting 2 nights at the Hilton. Not one word from staff in trying to explain anything or offer an apology for all of our inconveniences -...
Read moreThis hotel is in a great location right next to the mall - that's really the only 4+ star thing that I noticed during my stay. I'm honestly not sure why this hotel is so highly rated otherwise, it's just okay.
The staff is friendly, but that's generally the norm at most hotels. I think I paid something like $150+ a night over a weekend to attend an event in Raleigh and I felt like the price was not justified. The rooms are fine, but the pillows they had were the most uncomfortable things I've ever slept on. They are made of some kind of shredded material that felt lumpy and went flat within a few minutes. I really wish I'd brought my own from home. The sheets were dingy - not outright dirty but obviously discolored and look like they need replacing.
The real thing got me was the breakfast - good lord! The prices are borderline criminal for what you get! It cost me about $40 for myself and my child to eat breakfast. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and it was something like $15 for bread, eggs, and bacon stacked together. All kinds of advertised toppings missing. No sides, no drink included. My kid's French toast with strawberries was just 2 dry pieces of French toast with some chopped up berries on top and that was also $14-16. I had to go back up to the bar multiple times to ask for things like syrup, butter, utensils, napkins, etc. For the price, these entrees should at the very least come with a side or coffee for free. It was honestly just bad and I felt bad for the girl working the bar because she was very sweet.
We didn't see a place to return our dirty dishes, so we just cleaned up the table and left them behind. This was around 8am the morning of our event and when we came back down to the lobby around 10:30am to leave all the dirty dishes were still on the table...the next morning we went to a local breakfast restaurant and ate/drank for half the price and the food was actually really good. The bar area at this hotel was never crowded and I understand why. I would not recommend eating here.
Location is stellar - everything else...
