It's NOT really a library in the sense of having a place of solitude to read a book or to study. It's very loud there. There's children running around and crying and screaming, having tantrums, and adults talking loudly all the time because the children's books are on the first floor. The only bathroom is in the hallway near the Lewis Playhouse. Also, families congregate in the main area, and that's where everybody is studying and looking at their books. The design is horrible because it's just like one big huge room where a mishmosh of things happen, and it's very disorganized and chaotic. Back in the day, people running a library would make sure that people were quiet. It's pretty much an unwritten rule that libraries need to be quiet. The children's section should be located in a separate area blocked off. This is a very bad design it's very upsetting actually because it's extremely loud, and then you have the Lewis Playhouse with the door open out there. It's just a very bad design. It's not quiet at all. It's more like a Walmart store where you can get things you need - and crowded and noisy as a Walmart would be, but you can't really enjoy the resources and the building of the library itself while you're there. People who go to libraries like them for very specific reasons. Sadly, though the Archibald library has a limited selection of books and resources, it is the library that I most desire to go to because it's quiet there and it is a REAL Library; the Archibald library has the children's section on the second floor away from the main floor, AND the parents in the Archibald Library control their children and keep them quiet even when they're up there. The study rooms in the Archibald Library are on the second floor, but when you are using them, you can never hear anyone screaming or crying or talking loudly. Occasionally, you will have someone in another study room teaching someone, and you can hear it in your room, but that is a very small issue and does not happen that often. The Biane Library needs to change and is badly in need of an update. I'm not sure who owns this library, but we know who built it. So, with something having their name attached to it, they should talk to the owners about really making it a better place for everyone to enjoy or change the name to the Rancho Cucamonga Children's Library. That's basically what it is. If you did that, then you should take out all the adult books and all the adult resources and give them to the Archibald Library. That way, there would be a dedicated children's library where people could go, and it wouldn't be an issue, and parents wouldn't feel weird about their children being loud they would know that they were allowed to do that because it's a dedicated library for children. Other people would know that they wouldn't be able to study there or waste their time going there to expect a quiet place when it's not that. Even if it weren't the summertime, there would still be a lot of noise. I tried to study once there and couldn't. The only time I could get anything done or be in an area that's quiet was if I booked a room. However, you can still hear the noise from inside the room, and additionally, the air conditioning vibrates something in the room so when you're in that room, you have to hear some vibration the whole time. Also, being in a separate room is to be secluded from the rest of the library, so, if you want to enjoy sitting in the library and reading, thinking, or studying, the smell of a library; the quietness of it, the sanctuary and peace of what a library SHOULD be, then the only way to do that is to be in a separate room. But, what if you don't want to be segregated from everybody else? Even so, you still don't really get to enjoy the library if you are in a separate room. It's a beautiful building, but it's no more than a glorified Walmart. Please fix...
Read moreStaff not friendly enough to accommodate questions. Most of them - just wanted you to follow rules.
We do return books ahead of time but ending up paying fine for unknown reasons. If you ask- they can’t answer.
I thought this is way better than Lewis library in Fontana but I was totally wrong-staff in that location are more accommodating and helpful. If staff can’t answer questions, managers would step in to resolve the issues.
Bad experience here. Very 😞
I told my daughter that she can read here but we will no longer borrow books as staff isn’t accommodating to help. And most of the time, paying fines.
In addition, you can renew books up to ninth times in Fontana library .

Read moreI love this library, it's my local branch, so I usually go once a week. The library is newly renovated, and the book selection is great. If they don't have something in stock, they're pretty good about purchasing recommendations or borrowing it from a linked branch.
I have never had a rude librarian, but I also do not use the space for studying. Close to the walkway where children go to their section it can be loud, but it is also the change in ideology in getting children to grow up in the library and it being a living part of the community. The noise does not last very long, and parents do try to keep their children quiet.
For me this place is...
