This is an almost classic example of an urban shopping mall designed during the era of automobile supremacy.
It is bounded by a freeway to the East, the BART tracks to the south, a county justice center to the West, and a fairly high speed four lane east west road on the north. As such, it is not a nice place to go if you're not driving. The only public transit that stops here is one bus that comes by every half hour. (BART doesn't stop anywhere nearby, only goes by.
It is anchored by a Target (oh excuse me, Targé) The rest of the businesses seem to come and go with some regularity, although the Wingstop, which is what I visited today, seems to have endured longer than any other business there that I'm aware of. And yes there used to be a Radio Shack here, no longer with it's nationwide demise.
With all that said, if you need to get something that is here, and you're driving, parking is easy and being located on MacDonald Avenue, it's on a main drag so usually no traffic problems getting to / from it.
I do want to mention one other business that is on the Northwest corner of the property. Mechanics Bank. Mechanics Bank is a great community bank that serves Western Contra Costa County with a couple of branches in northern Alameda County. They are a community bank, not one of the big banks, so are quite well-oriented to serving the local population. I only wish that they would open a location closer to what people think of as a downtown Richmond, I. E. L near the...
Read moreI like going to the Target here for a few different reasons, but I had to drop a star because I have been approached in that parking lot on more than a few occasions now. Several times, I have been approached by men looking for money. I have also been aggressively approached by a man practically begging to fix my bumper. He was shady and he kept looking into my trunk and around me... I thought he was desperate enough to do something strange. I led the conversation to a place that allowed me to get away without incident. Most recently, a man approached me asking if I wanted to take a look at a big screen TV. I said, no thank you, I have a TV, he then became aggressive and demanded that I take a look because it was a top of the line TV. I did not like the way he was looking at me, the way he spoke to me, and how he made me feel unsafe. That is too many times for one darn lot. Beef...
Read moreIt's a nice place. But at Target I got kicked out by security for something I didn't do. The lady who was the security guard came up to me telling me to get out. I asked why and she said I knew why( and I didn't, I really didn't) and I insisted on getting a reason why I was supposed to leave and she said that I was running around with some other kids which I wasn't. I knew what kids she was talking about because I have seen them running around when I was walking and then when I told her I wasn't with them she threatened on calling the police on me and then I just walked out avoiding any more trouble. But other than that the rest of the target employees are...
