Please don’t waste your time and money on this very, very fast paced workout. Emma was our guide tonight, and have to say, this was the worst so called ghost tour we have ever been on. We brought a group of 5 people tonight with us, we travel all over and usually try to incorporate a ghost tour on our trips, tonight Emma was asked twice to PLEASE slow down on her fast paced walking/sprinting tour, we had a couple people in our group that required a bit of extra time walking. The first time she gave the thumbs up to the request, and seconds later was sprinting to the next stop, not slowing the pace at all. So I asked a few minutes later if she could please slow down, we had two people that were having a difficult time keeping up and she said she would try but she had a schedule to keep, then went right back to her fast pace, ignoring the request. Finally, I had to stop her, and tell her we were dropping out, and wouldn’t be finishing this tour or the extended tour which we signed up and paid for in advance & she said sorry and continued on. I then had to stop her and ask how to get back to our starting point, for we are from out of state & not familiar with this area, she was not any help here, and another participant in the group, not guide, gave me directions back. Secondly, she needs to get her facts straight, she was asked how many people died in the tunnel collapse in 1925, to which she answered “at least a hundred people” researching this event afterwards, there were three or possibly four who lost their lives and remain buried in that tunnel, no passengers as she had stated, certainly not at least a hundred people, and no passenger cars as she told. A locomotive engine and flat cars, and all three missing persons were railroad workers, which is tragic alone, but to embellish to the degree she did, was distasteful. Also, she stated the Masonic lodge there in Richmond, was the oldest in the nation, again, not true, I happen to know, (I come from a long line of Masons) the oldest lodge is in Boston, MA. I would not recommend...
Read moreI wish I could have experienced this Richmond Ghost Tour, but the tour guide never showed up. We never received a call or email saying the tour was canceled or if the time was pushed back. My girlfriend & I waited until about 15 minutes after the tour should have started to call & ask what was going on. The representative that answered told me she was going to attempt to contact the tour guide & she put me on hold. She returned and claimed she couldn't get into contact with the tour guide, but to please wait to see if she might still show up & I would receive a call if the tour was canceled. My girlfriend & I, along with about ten other people waited out in the rain for an hour after when the tour was scheduled to start when we decided to just leave. We never received a call back saying the tour was actually canceled or an apology or an update or anything at all. I emailed them the following business day requesting at least a refund for my two tickets as we did not receive what we paid for & we wasted our time waiting around in the rain for an hour with no update & also had to pay for parking. The response they gave me was they cannot refund me my money because of their terms & conditions. They could reschedule my tour & that was it. Problem is that I live in Austin, TX , half the country away, & have no plans of returning to Richmond in the near future or ever. They still did not care. This company is a scam & they commit fraud. They will take your money, nobody will show up, then claim they can't return your money, but they can reschedule your tickets. Reschedule my tour for me to waste my time & expenses again just for nobody to show up? Never again. This is by far the worst tourism experience I have had in all my years of traveling. I caution anybody thinking of going on this ghost tour that you may be scammed out of your money. You will literally...
Read moreDisappointed to say that this was the biggest waste of $60 that we've spent on a vacation, maybe ever. This is NOT a local company and it shows in their tour. Our tour guide Bryce was off putting with his attitude and made the experience feel very non genuine. He stumbled over his script so many times that everyone in the group could tell that it was just that, a script. He is not a VA local, so it didn't feel like he really knew much about the stories he was telling. If I'm honest, I didn't even feel like he really liked ghosts.
There were also some kids on the tour and when one asked an innocent question, he laughed in her face and snarked her question back at her. She checked out for the rest of the tour and was visibly embarrassed and uncomfortable. Out of the 12 people in our group, not one person looked like they were having a good time even for a moment on the tour. I've been on walking ghost tours in historic cities before and learned so many cool facts and stories about the city, but I could not tell you a dang thing about Richmond after this one. It's also a craaaaazy scam to be charging people for "ghost readers" when you're lucky if you can even get within 20 feet of the haunted locations they're talking about.
Everyone checked out before the end of the last story, and he even let us know we could leave a bad review. I've never seen a tour group get TF out of a place faster than when we heard "Goodnight".
Really wish we had chosen a local company, as there was another group on a tour alongside us that looked way more fun and intriguing. We even joked about sneaking our way into their group. We will be sure to try a different company next...
