The TTP pedestrian / bicycle bridge that connects Browns Island (north side of James River) to Manchester (south side of James River) is a wonderful asset that serves IMHO to enhance and promote accessibility, healthy outdoor activity, and fun/adventure/discovery in downtown RVA. Not only does it link the north and south banks of the river, and the James River Park system (and paths/trails), but it also offers fabulous views / vistas of the RVA skyline, the falls of the James in RVA, and nature / wildlife that make the James River in Richmond such a treasure. It is a great place to visit on your own or with friends... and it makes taking in and enjoying the many interesting,, meaningful, and unique sites, and frequenting the many excellent food & beverage establishments in downtown & in Manchester by foot or by bike relatively easy & safe. It's certainly worth...

If you haven't been go...best on a day of high water & blue sky. However one caveat - parking is increasing a tough sell...like everything else around Brown's Island the area is being overdeveloped, etc. Ex..the new amphitheatre, the giant monolithic CoStar Headquarters, & now with CNN's rating of Richmond as a No.1 go to City all is up for grabs...

It's one thing to sanitize Monument Ave. for racial harmony, ( I get it), but to continue to marginalize the natural beauty of the James River with more & more man made objects...enough. The view of the James & it's environs is breathtaking. However look back on the land... we're building too much..too many condo's, high rises, etc....One suspects most developers are none too concerned with balance or the natural contours of the land unless their...

Beautiful bridge completed in 2017. Recommendations: (1) definitely stop in the middle and enjoy a view of the city, (2) best views from this bridge are at sunset, (3) if you want to make a loop walk using this bridge, start at browns island - head across the bridge away from downtown richmond - on the far side head up the stairs to the left and once you get to the top you will see a trail heading East along the top of the floodwall of the south side of the james river - take that walkway all the way to the 14th street bridge back towards richmond - and then once back on the city side of the bridge, head left (west) along the locks trail which will take you back to browns island. Love this bridge, offer my highest...

One of the best spots in Richmond. It is a pleasant walk over the bridge. Visited there during the evening-night hours and still pretty safe to walk. There are plenty of people taking walks or jogging around late in the evening. The view from the other end is very neat. Bonus point if you witness the train going over the bridge. Parking could be an issue as there is limited free parking. There is paid parking available in plenty. There are portable restroom in the park. You may witness a few bugs during the summer time but nothing major. The lights on the bridge at the night time is very pleasant. Highly recommend visiting here during sunset, which would give you the day time and night view.

Words cannot express my impression on this bridge. The expansive horizon, the roaring water, multiple green islands, big and small rocks. Many big cities in the US are built along rivers but of all coastal cities I have been to none has such mesmerizing views as in here. It was a fun and a bit scary walk as the river ran fast and it was windy. You can have a good view of the towers in Richmond downtown, most notably the Fed. And see people enjoy various activities such as kayaking and rock climbing. It started out as a casual walk after visiting the Civil War museum, but the bridge became the bright spot of my day, I fell in love with it right away.

We did a day trip to Richmond and this bridge makes me want to live there. What a cool experience! We meant to go to Belle Isle but didn’t know where we were going and walked this bridge instead. Still looking forward to trying Belle Isle as well, but this one was very neat too! Would love to go with more time. Very interesting to see the rock climbing wall at one end. Would also like to walk up to the top of the overlook by that, but didn’t have it in us this last trip.
