I was invited to the grand opening of Smokestack Pizza inside the Padel Plant and wow, this place is next level! 🍕✨ Housed in a former hydroelectric plant right on the Canal Walk, the vibe is industrial-chic with gorgeous water views 🌊 Their menu consists of Neo-Neapolitan pizzas, fresh focaccia sandwiches, crisp salads, and throwback milkshakes 🥗🍔🥤plus a full-service bar for the perfect night out 🍸 I kicked things off with an espresso martini ☕🍸 and their focaccia bread 🥖. Amazing what they did with the space. We went for the pizza and were pleasantly surprised to see how well the space has been designed - major upgrade to before.

For the pizza, completely agree with other comments about it being the best in Richmond. The crust is amazing. I was a little concerned when I discovered there isn't much flexibility to modify the pies. Normally I don't like places that only offer their pies as many do so for efficiency. Once I had the pepperoni, I was sold! Everything was amazing and perfectly balanced - starting with the crust with a perfect crunch, to the sauce and cheese ... and finally the pepperonis with the right amount of crispness on the edges which is hard to do without overcooking other elements. The coolest place. Padel (think tennis amd squash/racketball had a baby) and pickelball in a 125 year old former hydropower plant next to a historic canal and city canal walk (at end of Haxall Point). But wait! There's the best coffee, pizza and full bar. And the friendliest owners and staff. The coffee is Italian and better than American. Period. The crust and ingredients on the pizza are the best in Richmond, seriously. Great sandwiches, too! Park in the Troutman Pepper Building parking deck (public levels) and take elevator to looby for a 30 foot walk to the front door, or walk or bike to the Padel Plant.
