Back in November, I switched nail salons and went to Nail Bar. I had the best experience - the woman who did my Gel X was super patient/a perfectionist and my nails came out exactly how I wanted. I got really busy over the holidays, but decided to go back to "Nail Bar" now "Yunique Nail & Spa" a week ago expecting the same great service. As soon as I sat in the chair and told them I was there for Gel X (which is what I made my appointment for), James and I'm guessing the new owner kept pressuring me into getting UV Gel. I've never gotten UV Gel before and kept asking what the difference was, but they couldn't give me a straight answer. I told them I wanted what I came in for, but they continued to pressure me into getting UV Gel (of course because it was more expensive), I got annoyed/stressed and eventually just told them fine (anyone with nail salon anxiety knows what I'm talking about). Once I realized what I was getting it was too late. He started putting the base on my nails (without asking what color I wanted).....and made each nail super thick. I didn't say anything because I was hoping they would be significantly filed down. As he continued, he filed the nail into a square shape (without asking what shape I wanted) and filed each nail down but not nearly enough. When it was time for the gel polish, I showed them a picture of what I wanted (pink/nude base with chrome), they said they would match it and my nails came out nothing like the picture (see pics attached). I was upset and stressed the entire time because I had already hated my nails and was stuck with them. James was very nice and worked very hard on them but they are the opposite of what I wanted/envisioned. My nails are so thick and look ridiculous and I paid $90 for them. I truly couldn't believe how they didn't ask me what base color or shape I wanted for my nails! They pretty much decided everything for me!! I honestly never write reviews but I literally hate my nails and couldn't stop thinking about my experience and wanted to warn anyone coming to this new salon.
UPDATE: The owner, Yuni, ended up messaging me and was very genuine about the miscommunication that happened. She even offered me a partial refund for my experience. She obviously did not have to do that and was very kind. I added a star for her kindness.
SECOND UPDATE (4/5/25): my nail just popped off lol how would I even be able to get a fill in if the nail comes off…. It’s...
Read moreI went to this place to get my first set of acrylics done professionally. I walked in and they made me write down everything about me and my friends, including our addresses. They sat us down and Michelle did my nails. I asked for a medium length with like a purple color and crome. I did my own nails at home so I already had acrylics on. Michelle used the electric file and burned my real nails down to where my pinky bled!! She got glue everywhere. She put tips on me and all of them were all different shapes and sizes. Michelle plopped the gel on my nail and didn’t even smooth it out or anything. She pinned my hand in the UV light and wouldn’t let me take it out when it was burning. She painted my nails and got it all over my hands. It was extremely messy. Two other lady’s cut my friends too. When we were finished they wouldn’t let us leave until we gave them a 5 star review (even tho we had paid already)!!! We left and I edited my review and they called us multiple times telling us to come back that they would redo our nails. We told them to leave us alone but they said they wouldn’t until we changed our reviews. Eventually my mom picked up the phone and Michelle started screaming and cursing at my mom!! Me and my friends will NEVER...
Read moreThe only reason I have gone to this nail salon is because of the coupons, but it’s honestly not even worth it at this point. Every time I go I leave disappointed with the service, they don’t even cut your cuticles when doing a gel manicure and it’s done so sloppily. Again, I only put up with it so long because of the cheap prices. But I will no longer be going to this nail salon after witnessing a disturbing exchange between one of the employees and the owner, Michelle. Another customer and I were both speaking to this employee in Spanish while we were getting our pedicures (which was actually great for once) and while Michelle was doing my manicure she called her employee over and told her that she is not allowed to speak Spanish and that there is a rule in the salon that only English can be spoken. This is absolutely ridiculous, especially since WE the customers initiated the conversations in Spanish. We are always greeted in English. Michelle was being very rude and told her “I’m the boss, I make the rules. We speak English here.” And then proceeded to sit back down to finish my manicure and began speaking to another employee in their native language. I was in shock! I will not be going back. So...
