Rich's Galaxy Upholstery — Attraction in Riverside Township

BUYER BEWARE! I took my client's 4 Parson's chairs to Galaxy Upholstery, resulting in a disaster. The first 2 photos represent the original chairs followed by photos representing what Galaxy delivered to my clients. As you can see from the photos, the skirts are uneven, wrinkled, do not line up with the slit in the back of the chairs and were 1" too short exposing the leg, the tabs do not resemble the original tab, were all a different size and were not placed evenly from chair to chair, the rolled back of the chair was wrinkled and uneven, there were exposed staples on the legs and for some reason glue was used to hold the skirts in place. My clients were furious and demanded the chairs be redone. Rich was not happy that we were complaining about his shoddy work and called my clients "retarded" because they examined the chairs. In order to fix the chairs, 4 more yards of fabric were needed and Rich refused to pay for the extra fabric. In addition, I was forced to pay a deposit and Rich would not start the work until my check cleared. When he was finally done with the chairs, I had to drive to his shop (more loss wages) to inspect his work. As soon as I saw the chairs in person I knew my client's would not accept them as very little changed from the initial delivery. However, Rich was holding my client's chairs hostage so I paid the balance and then I had to wait until my check cleared before he delivered the chairs. This is an interesting business practice. I suppose if you were confident with your work, you wouldn't hold your client's chairs hostage until you were ensured your money. Rich told me that regardless of the outcome he would not do anything else to the chairs and so to save my reputation and in attempt to satisfy my client's I hired another upholsterer to repair the chairs that Rich destroyed! Rich is rude and extremely unprofessional and after this horrible experience with Galaxy, I should sue him for lost wages and reputation however, he is not worth any more of my time. In the end, I found an amazing upholsterer that put Rich's shoddy work to shame and saved my reputation by delivering the kind of product I am...

We reached out to Rich's Galaxy Upholstery yesterday via phone call regarding fixing our couch. He requested that we text him photos, which we did. He then followed up requesting that we bring the section of the couch to his store, any day between Monday to Friday. We drove out of our way 30 minutes to his store, only to be met by a grumpy man who was too busy taking care of his personal business. As soon as we walked in, he told us to wait in the corner by the door. He then told us to bring in the couch, as he would take a look at it, to which we proceeded to do. As he was on a personal call, we were patient to wait for his services. After 15 minutes he told us to just leave the section, he would call us back with an estimate. Only thing is that we would be the ones to drive back, out of convenience for him. At that point we were disappointed in the customer service. If he was on a personal call for an extended period of time already, I don't understand why he told us to bring out the piece of couch to begin with. Had Galaxy Upholstery reupholster several couches and misc. chairs in the office a few years ago and they also did custom wooden blinds for all of the windows. They did a GREAT JOB and are truly amazing at the work they do. We were so happy with the furniture they reupholstered in the office, that we decided to have them reupholster our sofa and loveseat at home, which led to new drapery and custom cornices for our Front Room and Dining Room. We just had them refinish and recane our Dining Room chairs for the Holiday they are ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. They look better than new! We have gotten so may compliments on our furniture and many of our friends have had their furniture reupholsterd by Galaxy also, and they too were very happy.
