Nestled atop Mount Rubidoux in Riverside, California, the Peace Tower is a striking monument that symbolizes unity and serenity. Visiting the tower is more than just a hike—it’s a journey through history, breathtaking scenery, and a moment of reflection amidst the beauty of nature.

The hike to the Peace Tower is moderate and incredibly rewarding. There are multiple trails leading to the summit, but the paved main path is the most popular, making it accessible for walkers, joggers, and families alike. Along the way, you’ll enjoy stunning panoramic views of Riverside, with the city sprawling out below and the San Gabriel Mountains creating a dramatic backdrop. If you time your visit during sunrise or sunset, the colors are nothing short of magical.

When we reached the Peace Tower, we were awestruck by its charm and historical significance. Constructed in 1925, the tower commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Ghent and stands as a tribute to peace. Its unique Mission Revival-style architecture, complete with an adjoining bridge, is both timeless and inspiring. Standing beneath the arch, you can’t help but feel a sense of calm and introspection.

One of the things that makes this spot so special is the sense of community. We met locals who shared stories about the tower’s history and its importance to Riverside. It’s also a popular destination for those who want to take a break from the bustle of life and enjoy a peaceful moment.

After exploring the tower, we spent some time admiring the nearby World Peace Bridge and taking photos. From here, you can take in an uninterrupted view of the cross atop Mount Rubidoux and the surrounding landscape, which is dotted with wildflowers in the spring and framed by the golden hues of Southern California’s hills.

Tips for Visiting: • Go early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the midday heat and enjoy the best lighting for photography. • Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. While the trail is paved, it’s still a steady incline to the top. • Take your time. The hike isn’t just about reaching the summit; there are plenty of benches and scenic spots along the way where you can pause and soak in the view. • Be mindful of the environment. Mount Rubidoux is a cherished landmark, and keeping it clean ensures its beauty for generations to come.

The Peace Tower on Mount Rubidoux is more than just a historical site; it’s a place where you can reconnect with nature, reflect on life, and be inspired by the peaceful message it represents. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this landmark is a must-see. It’s an experience that stays with you long...

Ya'll should know that if you have not worked out in months TAKE. IT. SLOW. When I tell you I struggled, I struggled!!. I also have asthma but I made it to the top and it was a beautiful site. I was able to enjoy some of the view going up on my about 20 breaks or so 🤣 All in all I felt Soo good after and the highlight of the walk was meeting to men of God who blessed my best friend and I with some encouraging words from the Lord. It gave me something to think about on my way...

We took our family of 5 (and little puppy) on the hike up. We made sure to wear hoodies, jackets, and proper walking shoes. It paid off! Making it to the top to see Peace Tower was worth it.

Prepare yourself for gusty winds. Make sure your little ones hold your hand.

Enjoy the view and accomplishment of making it to the top. Enjoy the scene and take...
