Singer Island's Ocean Mall is a great place to have fun: There are several restuarants and live music from Two Drunken Goats and another restuarant next door. There are several hotels to choose from. The 7-11 is open 24 hours and I love shopping there(A great place to get a cold drink). There is a gas station/store across the parking lot and a great little grocery store across the street from that. The newly remodeled Ocean Walk is beautiful. Love the little trails it takes to get to the ocean. The bathrooms are mostly clean. On the downside, even though it seems the beach sand may have been swept because there were no cigarette buttes literally every time you dug in the sand(2 years ago), There needs to be a thorough cleaning of the beach sand. There was an old dried up condom. NASTY! There is a beach sweeping machine for that. You have to adapt with change, but i do not like all the high rise condominiums erected up and down the coastline. The high rises have sectioned off the beach for private use. The whole coastline used to be for the public. You Do Not Own Nature. This beach used to be natural. 12 years ago, the debris from the construction.was in the ocean. The turtles were being killed and confused by the artificial light when they hatched. Hatchlings were being run over by cars and a baby turtle was found with a string around its neck. Like someone was trying walk it like a dog. Back to present day: The ocean has a lot of trash like: plastic bags and lids that still floats in the water. Not good. The homelessness seems to have cleared up a bit. I can talk: I slept on this beach for a year. I was and am clean and respectable of my surroundings. Which, is not associated with homelessness. The beach is...
Read moreCame thru on a backpacking expedition and sat in front of the 7-11 while my partner and I drank coffee. Officer Summers and Wright approached us and told us they would arrest us for trespassing for standing on the street in front of the store consuming products we bought in said store. Honestly I would love to give this place 5 stars but come here if you're rich and tidy looking. They don't like outsiders and it was wrong of them to assume we were homeless and harass us. Come here expecting to pay for everything. Lucky enough it has a...
Read moreThis is the best main, public beach in the area. And the best choicr if you want to have food, drink, and shopping options very close during your beach visit. Renting chairs and umbrellas is quite expensive ($45 for 2 chairs and 1 umbrella for the day) but worth it if you'll be staying for a few hours. The locals and travellers are all very friendly and helpful, and the beach is gorgeous. Would recommend another beach if you are wanting more privacy or just a beach only experience, but this is the best choice for...
