.It's ok bathrooms and safeness compared to rest of OBX. Most of the time. But when a lot of people have been through this place it's nasty wreck. Watch your step. I work nearby so stop by between on road with my job and use restroom. Update. They are keeping bathrooms cleaner and with toilet paper now. I've seen worse bathrooms though. But there's poop stains in grout on floor tiles. They need deep clean and bleach.im a house cleaner so I notice things that need to be cleaned. But Definitely a decent place to stop for a short while and possibly cook on the grill. Stretch your legs, Walk your dog. The police like hanging out nearby and catch people off guard coming off the bridge. But they also stop by the welcome center and...

I stopped in here on my first trip to the Outer Banks. The gentleman was very friendly and almost helpful.

He provided some completely incorrect information, regarding an area that I specifically asked him about.

He claimed that the residential areas near the Currituck National Wildlife Refuge is not accessible to the public, and said that unless I was a resident of the area, I would need to stay out of it.

I mentioned this to a realtor (that is less than 5 minutes from where the pavement ends and the 4x4 beach access begins) and he said that I had been given bad information.

So, after a 10 mile drive on the beach and no sight of the horses, I parked and enjoyed the beach for a...

My wife and I were enroute to Kitty Hawk when I saw the visitor center and pulled into the lot. The visitor center was very nice with lots of brochures and we were approached by a gentleman whose name tag read Stanley. Stanley answered numerous questions we had about the Outer Banks and as it turned out, he gave us a detailed and personal history lesson about the Outer Banks. We could have listened to his description of the towns and the history of the Outer Banks for hours. Wow, how lucky the visitor center is to have Stanley as part of their team, he was absolutely the best. Thank you Stanley for your time and your history lesson !

Mark and...

Outstanding visitor center entering the Outer Banks from the south. Ample parking. Clean restrooms. Well laid out. The main building was beautifully designed with multiple large five foot long posters of descriptive information. Curved cases contained many brochures on both sides covering attractions, fishing, accomodations, various rentals, shopping, crafts and restaurants. The ladies working were very friendly and provided answers to all questions. Outdoor maps were large and helpful.

This is a great place to stop for the cleanest bathrooms on the beach, there is a tourist bureau on site, the staff is very helpful. . As well there is picnic tables, and it is a pretty spot to stop at as well, with a extra bonus. .wheelchair ramp on one side. . I would highly recommended stopping in, and getting information of the Outer Banks ' they are very informative.

Clean restrooms and friendly staff. Quick snacks & cold cokes are available in the vending machines. Picnic tables are available outside around the building. Inside there are a lot of brochures about the area you can have. It is the Best place to stop before driving off the Outer Banks. It is a while until the next rest stop operated by the state of NC.
