I was referred to Hight & Randall by a recently retired jeweler in Rochester who I had done a little business with a few years ago. My intent was to get my wife, Deb, something special for our fortieth anniversary. The first visit to their store was in early January where I was greeted with a cheerful visit with Randy and a cup of coffee. I explained my purpose with Barbara and Randy and they were very encouraging and spelled out what they could do. By the way, I was quite ignorant about jewelry and they were very patient in explaining what their specialty was. I left feeling confident that I was on the right path.
Our anniversary is May 31. In early April, I made an appointment with Barbara and managed to trick Deb into a trip to the store. Barbara and Randy played along with the surprise. By that time I thought about upgrading my wife's original engagement ring. Deb decided that an upgrade was a good idea and an even better idea that she would get to participate in the entire design process. Barbara spent a considerable amount of time that day showing us the possibilities and explaining how it would all work. Deb came home and studied and looked at Pinterest and finally decided on what she wanted. We went back to Barbara and they fine-tuned the design and Hight & Randall went to work.
To make a long and exciting story short, due almost exclusively to my procrastination and Covid, our anniversary rushed up on us. However, we were always kept informed of the process so we were not disappointed to miss that date. The day came when the ring was ready. Barbara called me and even volunteered to deliver it to me if I couldn't get to the store before that weekend.
Let's just say that this led to yet another welcome surprise for Deb. The ring turned out absolutely beautiful and exactly what we had hoped for. We couldn't be more pleased with the entire process and outcome.

Barbara gave me lots of ideas and showed me lots of options. She gave me suggestions about where else I could look for more design ideas. She gave me guidance about how we could blend the old ring and diamond into something new. Barbara is extremely knowledgeable and good at explaining the design process. She helped me understand the possibilities. I felt that she was always listening to me about my likes and personal tastes in jewelry. I am extremely pleased with the result. I love my new ring. Thank you to Barbara and Randy for helping me transform my original set into a new treasured...
Read moreI had an amazing experience shopping for an engagement ring with Randy. He sourced the perfect diamond and helped me customize a setting to my exact liking. We were able to change the width, the prongs, and the size of the diamonds in the pavé band. My ring is everything I imagined it would be. In addition, the process was so so easy!
Randy has always been kind, patient, and respectful. I never felt pressured or rushed to make a decision. After spending time in his shop, I could tell that he treats all of his customers this way. He has customers who have been coming to him for a long time. It’s truly the experience you’d want to have with a personal jeweler.
Randy is extremely knowledgeable and has been in the business for a long time. This was my first time purchasing a diamond, and he answered all of my questions and took the time to explain every detail I asked about. He acknowledged the time I spent researching diamonds and settings and helped me further develop my knowledge. He has never been condescending or made me feel lesser-than for my choices.
Prior to finding Randy I worked with a few jewelers at both big-box chain stores and at other local, personal jewelers. Randy really stood out. After seeing the first round of diamonds I could choose for my setting, I told Randy what I liked and didn’t like about each one. The second round of diamonds were all exactly what I had asked for. With the other jewelers, they didn’t seem to take my preferences into account and continued to show me diamonds that weren’t what I wanted (they even showed me cuts I said I would never want)! This sealed the deal for me. Randy has a true understanding of what his customer is looking for. His prices are very fair.
I had to get the band re-sized over the holiday season with a quick turnaround time.
Overall, I could not recommend them highly enough. I am so grateful for my experience with them. If I ever need another piece of jewelry, Randy will be the first...
Read moreI previously used another jeweler for my custom designs but He retired. He recommended we use hight and Randall in the future for cleanings, maintenance of our jewelry and anything custom. I was given my grandmother's diamond from the 1930's in a ring but had never liked the design or the fact that it was yellow gold. I have wanted to get it put into another setting and incorporate some diamond earrings as well as birthstones to make a piece I could hand down for generations. I finally decided to take the leap and decided to call hight and randall to get a price quote and see what they could do for me. Since the first time talking with Barb I felt she was on board with what I wanted to do and would work to get something I was more than happy with. We met several times and I decided to go ahead with the custom design. The price was expensive but not more than I thought it would be with doing something custom. I was willing to pay a fair price for good work. I was in contact with Barb throughout the process and it took awhile to get the ring but that was because of covid. I was also willing to wait for excellent work. I was extremely happy with the result and have a piece I can wear for many years to come and will be passing down. I would recommend this jeweler to anyone. They are extremely friendly, keep very good communication and will work with you to create something you want. My husband will more than likely be getting my anniversary band custom made...
