Carol L. Douglas Studio — Attraction in Rockport

I have taken painting classes from Carol Douglas, including an in-person workshop and several online courses. I also have a couple of her paintings hanging on our walls!

One really great thing about her classes is they are media-agnostic. I paint with watercolors along with a few others while most probably paint with oils, and I have seen some acrylic and gouache painters in class as well. Whether you paint with oils, watercolor, acrylics, or some other medium she can coach you on techniques to apply the paint, but I probably got more out of learning about planning and composing a compelling work of art.

Another thing about her classes is they are very positive and supportive for all skill levels, and they are a safe place to have your developing skills critiqued in a way that accelerates their development. Carol Douglas is an amazing painting teacher. I have taken both in person plain air courses and participated in her online courses for more than 5 years. From the basics to the more advanced concepts, each student gets personalized attention and the right encouragement to grow as an artist. I highly recommend her. As a teacher, Carol has a wonderful ability to meet each student where they are at and helps them take the next steps in their painting journey. She leads by example through her own continued growth as a painter and works tirelessly to build a sense of community within her classes.
