The venue is small and in a neighborhood in Rockville, MD. There is a drop off area, but if you park around back, it is not extremely handicap accessible. I had to wheel my instrument uphill through grass, and either carry it up steep steps, or when I tried to take the ramps, they didn't take me to an entrance I could use.
The main hall is a little small, as is the stage. I can't say how it sounded for the audience. The backstage area is relatively small and convoluted. The facility is what it is.
The land surrounding this venue is tranquil. I never would have guessed it existed back there because you cannot see it from the road at all.
It is only about 1.5 miles from downtown Rockville, so I was able to run over and grab a bite to eat between rehearsals....
Read moreThis is not a review of going to see a show at the F. Scott (though I've done that too, and it's a good time). No, THIS is a review of the theater from the actor's perspective. I've done a smattering of community theater in DC. Rehearsal spaces have always been catch as catch can, and theaters are often the same. "Change in the hallway" and "wing space? We don't need wing space!" are common. Not at the F. Scott! There's a proper green room. There are two well-equipped dressing rooms -- with mirrors galore! And lights! There's plenty of parking, and it's even a nice walk from the Metro. Being in a show at the F. Scott is so much more luxurious than at other theaters in...
