My husband and I got married here in June and although we had a wonderful day, we definitely had some issues with this venue. We visited the venue initially in 2023 and fell in love with it. We signed the contract and initially did not add on the â$500 Red/Purple Drink Feeâ thinking our guests could live without. However, about 2 months before the wedding during our final walk through, we were told that also included ANY dark and pink beverages such as Coke, Pepsi. any brown liquor and RosĂ©. So we were basically forced to add it in. HOWEVER, this fee only allows you to SERVE the beverages. It doesnât cover any spilled liquids on their floor so they took out an additional $300 from our security deposit to âemergency mop the floorsâ. We really felt duped with this. We had about 90 guests at our wedding in June during the heat wave and their AC could NOT keep up. Our guests (and us) were drenched with sweat during the reception. Many guests had to keep leaving the dance floor to cool off. After spending thousands, it was very disheartening to have our guests so uncomfortable for most of the night. If you want to use their ceremony chairs inside, thereâs no fee. But if you want to use them outside, even if you set them up yourself, itâs an additional $500. There are many rules and regulations that didnât make much sense to us (i.e the flower girl canât throw flowers on the ground outside while walking down the aisle, no sparklers ANYWHERE on the property, etc.). We wanted to set up a champagne tower for photos and we got so much grief! We ended up having to use plastic coupe glasses and werenât able to pour our own champagne, even if we didnât drink it! We had to use sparkling cider. We understand this is a historic mansion but just make sure you read over the WHOLE contract. They also make it very difficult to have your wedding rehearsal on a Friday, which is the day most rehearsals take place. Donât expect to be treated like a VIP here. Most of the time, we felt like a nuisance.
As stated, we had a lovely wedding but after spending almost $9000 on the venue alone with the added fees, we probably would have...
Read moreMy fiancé and I visited GM as a potential venue for our upcoming wedding. In the beginning email correspondence with Sandra was consistent and timely. However when the viewing date was approaching, correspondence became scarce. We agreed on a time a week prior to the viewing but the day of when I tried to call and email to confirm, there was no response. My fiancé and I trekked all the way from navy yard in DC to Rockville (1.5 hour drive in rush hour traffic), to find no one to meet us and no directions on how to contact Sandra or any other employee. We circled the property several times until 25 minutes later, Sandra came to greet us at the back entrance. She stated she had been waiting for us and lost her phone but she did receive my email confirmation. She spoke about needing to pick up her husband and not really having time. Then she proceeded to give us a booklet with all the info about GM and gave us a 5 min tour of the facility. After that, we were on our own. She instructed us to take a look at the grounds outside the mansion. But did not show us anything further. As we walked out of the mansion, she said goodbye and promptly locked the door. We aimlessly walked around not knowing what we were looking at, then decided to leave. When we made it back to our car, we saw her packing her vehicle as well. She grinned and drove off.
7 emails and countless phone calls later, I have not heard back from her or anyone from Glenview Mansion. My fiancé and I are young black professionals who were looking for a scenic venue for our wedding. I believe we have been poorly treated and would not recommend this venue to anyone. I don't want to speculate on the issues behind the maltreatment but will just say that because of Ms. Sandra Christian the town of Rockville and Glenview Mansion lost quite a bit...
Read moreNice venue and the space was ok. A little older but from what I could see, the grounds were kept up nicely. (Night event) I would have given it 5 stars but the staff at the end of the night was very pushy and took a little away from what was a great night. I definitely understand that when you rent a space on a weekday and it's late people want to get home, I truly do understand but at the same time, if an alloted time is given to have your event and a clean up time afterward, please allow the the renters to do so without hovering like vulchers on a carcass. It was very uncomfortable and if the renter doesn't comply to the clean up, by the way we did, then deduct it from the security deposit collected in advance. If I could have given a 3.5 star rating I would have but a good time was had so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and also ALL the staff wasn't like that just two (2) so I won't penalize the whole group for a few bad apples but I can tell they were probably the Senior Staff and felt they had the authority to do so but renting there again, probably not just because I wouldn't want to chance that occurrence with staff again. But hey our experience may...
