While there is quick access from the parking lot to the creek and the trees are very mature and the trails are decent, there are several reasons I rated this area a 3 star. The creek has constant reminders that it is used for sewage overflow. There are also signs advising people not to go in, drink or otherwise use the water in the creek. The main paved trail down to the first bridge is in serious disrepair. Anyone with accessibility issues would have difficulty on this path. The bridge is very nice however and provides a nice view of the water. While the trails are nice to walk along, there is limited signage. We got lost a couple times and creek crossings weren't well defined. Lastly there was a lot of erosion from the recent flash floods, but that is uncontrollable. Would go back but after clearly identifying the trails to go on and having a bit more...

Right outside of downtown Rockville is a nature preserve in Montgomery County with an amazing little nature center. This is a year-round place as the area has for four seasons and interest of flowers, plants and trees. The outside has hiking trails and gardens, there is bird feeder area for the enjoyment of any level ornithologist and a great little musical and play area for the kids. The building itself houses snakes, turtles and fish. Inside are nature learning books and toys upstairs and downstairs. There are classes for kids 18 months and up and a 2 to 5-year-olds class for a small fee. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and if they don't know the answer they will find it out for you when it comes to nature. Definitely great for preschool & elementary kids and anyone who enjoys learning more about our...

We have been to Croydon Creek Nature Center several times with our baby and toddler, and we just hosted our toddler’s birthday party here as well. Overall, the nature center is such a fun place for kids with lots of animals, games, hiking trails, and a great playground. Our toddler asks every weekend if we can go! Additionally, she LOVED her birthday party at the nature center (as did all of our guests)! It was very easy to book (but book early!) and the staff were very easy to work with when we had questions. Our host, Laura, was so enthusiastic, interactive, and really knew how to capture the kids’ attention. I highly recommend visiting or even hosting an event here!

(Additionally, special shoutout to Sarah who drove our credit card to our house when we...
