
To say I am completely disappointed with my latest visit to this salon, would be and understatement! Both the cut and color are awful, and NOT what I had requested, which is extremely frustrating, after explaining in detail exactly what I was looking for. I had not been here in years due to my hair being dyed the wrong color, not once but twice! The second time they gave me shampoo to strip the color out, which stripped my hair. I was happy with the cut years ago by the owner, so I figured I would give the salon another chance. BIG mistake! I gave the stylist who dyed my hair a specific request NOT to use any red highlights/color in my hair, because it always turns brassy. I requested cool tones, only to end up with orange colored roots, patchy color throughout my hair, and practically no color on the ends. COMPLETELY the opposite of what I requested! As for the cut, my hair is very damaged/dry, and has not been cut for a very long time, so I explained to the owner that all of the many layers needed the ends trimmed, and only the back bottom was done. I returned a second time/yesterday to have the cut fixed, only to be COMPLETELY disappointed with the redo. I SPECIFICALLY requested that the front of my hair be cut to fall back, and NOT towards my face. I explained that the angle currently in my hair needed to be reversed, only to have the COMPLETE opposite cut done. I am beyond upset every time I look in the mirror! After spending $175 at this salon for a cut and color, I will now have to find someone to fix it! I am COMPLETELY UPSET, especially to have this happen right before the holidays, and would no longer recommend this salon, which is extremely unfortunate. Please remember to LISTEN to what your customer is requesting. UPDATE after owner response: Thank you for your response and well wishes, but there is no excuse that can be made for my hair being dyed a color I did not ask for, three separate times, and a cut that was the EXACT opposite of what I requested. Especially when I explained in detail what I wanted. Again, you did not/and are not listening to the message I am trying to relay to you about listening to your customer. There is no excuse for my hair being cut the exact opposite of what I requested regardless of anything that had happened prior. The statement about “some people never being able to be pleased” is inaccurate in this case. Read moreI had been coming here for years to cut my hair with Hilda but when she retired, I moved to a new place. Then when my current hairdresser told me she was relocating to FL, I decided to come back and try someone new. The place itself is always very beautiful and clean but I was very disappointed with my service this time. I have been highlighting my hair for about 3 years now, and was overdue to touch up my roots. So I scheduled an appointment for a full highlight. First, I had to wait over 20 min past my appointment to be seen. Then, when my colorist started, she asked if I wanted my hair blown dry, and I said yes. She told me that was fine. Towards the end of my appointment, she said she was out of time and could not blow dry my hair because her next appointment would be arriving “any minute” and they had not booked me correctly. I was not pleased, especially because it was not my fault that she started 20 min late, but also, no one else had even arrived yet or was waiting for her. When I went up front to pay, I noticed that a few other people appeared to be available, so it occurred to me to ask if someone else could dry my hair - I didn’t want to leave the salon with dripping wet hair, but also, it was the day before Mother’s Day and I wanted my hair to be fully done. When I asked, everyone seemed surprised and confused that my colorist had not blown out my hair as requested. So they found me another person to do it, but it made made me wonder why she hadn’t arranged that for me in the first place and why everyone was so confused about it.
Of course, they ended up charging me another $30 for the “extra” service of the blow dry. Mind you, they charged me $300 (yes you read that correctly) $300 for the highlights, which apparently did not even include drying my hair! That’s twice as much as I was paying with my previous colorist who would charge me $150 and would always dry and style my hair. And in the end, I realized that there was no other appointment scheduled after mine after all. Very disappointing.
UPDATE: I am updating this from 3 stars to 2 because after seeing my highlights at home with my hair up in a bun, I realized what a poor job she did on my highlights. I have patches of dark hair that were left completely undone with other patches that have way too much blonde. The highlights are not evenly distributed at all. I was desperately in need of a new blonde color specialist that was a master in their profession, personable, and trustworthy. However, after receiving a recommendation back in 2021 for the best blonde master in the area, I visited Teena Gugliotti at Gugliotti Salon in Rocky Hill, CT. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was treated like a VIP. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, the salon was impeccably clean, and the services offered were second to none.
My stylist, Teena, did a phenomenal job transforming my hair and gave me valuable tips on how to maintain my new look. Her attention to detail and expertise in blonding was evident in the result!! Upon seeing the finished product for the first time I was blown away with how gorgeous and dramatically different it looked. I had tears in my eyes because I had always wanted for my hair to look this beautiful and feel this healthy. I looked and felt like a princess or a movie star! Teena truly listened to what I wanted, and provided a great experience that exceeded my expectations. It was great to have someone truly listen to what I wanted in a cut and color. I feel beautiful thanks to her!
You will not be disappointed; this salon is the best spot in the state of Connecticut! I’ve been coming to Teena for over 3 years and drive 2 hours to have her do my hair. It is beyond worth the trip!
