Konaseema Cuisine — Restaurant in Rocky Hill

I had to wait a few weeks to try out their weekend buffet since they opened this restaurant. Meanwhile, I tried their weekdays’ menu as well. First to start: these guys put a lot of effort into making the inside of the restaurant look great, spacious compared to the previous 3 owners. They did fix the issues with restrooms by completely recreating with new equipment. The restaurant looks great now! Coming to food, being a vegetarian I was skeptical whether they have a decent selection for vegetarians in their buffet. The other concern I had was the spice levels, usually, I can tolerate lower than average spice levels. But, they beat my expectations! They’ve plenty of options for vegetarians and their spice levels were decent. The menu is authentic with couple of rice dishes (soya pulav & veggie biriyani), soft idlies and utappam with peanut chutney and tomato chutney, good appetizers, dal, curries - fry and gravy, nan. They also made majjiga pulusu rice (some type of yogurt rice with tempering). Their deserts are excellent, I could feel the aroma of ghee in the annavaram style wheat halva. The other sweet was kala jamun which was delicate and delicious! I really liked seeing their non boring options (it’s just boring with rice pudding and jamun)! They gave Watermelon juice and tea as drinks! I got the feel that their menus won’t be boring. I am happy to see them opening this restaurant nearby my place. A Fall from Coastal Glory

I have been a loyal patron of this restaurant since its transition from Masala around April 2025. In its early days, the establishment consistently delivered authentic Coastal Andhra cuisine that stood out in both flavor and presentation. Dishes like the famed Ravulapalem Veta Mamsam Biryani and Raju Gari Kodi Pulav were not just meals but experiences—rich in taste, aroma, and tradition. So impressed was I that I enthusiastically recommended the restaurant to friends, community gatherings, and even for corporate events.

Unfortunately, the restaurant has recently shown a noticeable decline in both quality and consistency. What was once a place I frequented with confidence has now become a source of disappointment. During a recent family dinner, we ordered their so-called signature dishes—some even suggested by the staff. To our dismay, none met the standards we had come to expect. The Ravulapalem Pulav, once their culinary crown jewel, had deteriorated so drastically in taste and quality that it resembled nothing more than an ordinary fried rice.

I'm being very honest with the review. I have been to this restaurant like a dozen times in the last couple of months, this is the best Indian cuisine restaurant in Hartford area (rocky hills). The first time I visited the restaurant I tried Chicken lollipop, punugulu and Koonaseema special chicken biryani. The taste never disappoint. While the lollipop has been my constant in the later visits, their desserts are delicious, I would recommend Poornaalu. Mutton Pulav reminder me of Bagara mutton just reminds me of my home town back in India. I have also tried Non-veg thali- rice and naan served with egg curry, shrimp, mutton, chicken, pickle, sambar, papad, curd, dessert. Thali is sufficient for 1 person. Well I'm not if they serve rice twice. I also celebrated my b'day 2 weeks ago here. They made me cut Halwa cake🎂 which is so humble of the management. In veg dishes I have tried paneer biryani, mirchi bajji. I would definitely recommend Koonaseema restaurant for dine-in, takeaway, buffet. They introduced chat buffet.
