I was in town for a business meeting and didn't have much time to eat approximately 45 minutes so I decided I would quickly have Thai food. Now normally the Thai food that I eaten has always been delicious but I never tried it out of my area. So I was a little skeptical. However when I walked in here saw all the beautiful artwork on the wall and the very first door I injured had a display of statues plants and beverages pretty much like an altar I was like this seems pretty authentic. As I begin to take pictures of this place I realize that there's a strong possibility that the way I like my Thai pad maybe done correctly after all. I really like the cleanliness of this place. The staff member who took my order at all male with short hair was professional but he didn't smile I mean a business owner or employee doesn't necessarily have to smile in order to get the job done right? But at least put on a pleasant face. His face was just drab. Nonetheless he did his job took my order and answer my questions. I ordered the best tasting Thai pad I have ever tasted. I was so shocked. When I eat Thai pad from New York they never include a line I squeeze the line on top of my meal and it helped to bring out the different flavors that were mixed inside of the sauces. We also ordered a red curry chicken dish I forgot what it was. My girlfriend ordered drunken noodles and need I say yes my greedy self took at least about five bites of each one of those dishes and I must say it was damn good. In a way I'm kind of upset that I ate there because this restaurant is in Connecticut. I'm sure they don't do any special deliveries. LOL. I just happened to be strolling up the block so to discover it was a gem. There's no special flashing lights or a big dragon seated on the roof or Thailand wrutung on the walls on the outside saying welcome it's just a plain place on the outside no extra decor. I found it a little strange however that with food so good it was no one in the restaurant seated at the tables. However they were phone calls coming in and there was another patron who came in after me. Maybe perhaps when I came in it was too early I don't know but if I'm ever in this part of Connecticut again I certainly will stop in for dinner, lunch, even breakfast if they offered it LOL. Keep doing what you do call Kob Jai Pho, I was very pleased with my order. I meant to take a picture of my meal but once I tasted it I totally forgot I was going to...
Read moreI am writing this review as I just have stepped out of Kob Jai and this will probably be my last time coming here. I came to have dinner here with my family and we were met by frown and annoyed servers who said they were about to close, we arrived at 8:05 in the door. They seated us and threw the menu on the table and walked away. Our food appetizer all came at once- I didn’t mind because whatever. The chicken and shrimp dumplings we ordered was not the same that was given to us the last 3 times I have been there. It was the dumplings they used for their wonton soup. What really disappoints me is the servers’ attitudes. I had to walk to counter to get condiments, napkins, salt because they didn’t come to my table even once. I don't expect a 5-star service but at-least have the decency to do your "job". We ate a little but due to our bad experience, we decided to pack food home. This lady who I have photographed due to her nasty attitude and being constantly on the phone talking literally while you are talking to her, didn't want to give me a plastic container for Salmon entree I ordered. Instead, she put 4x cups of styrofoam containers and walked away while I was asking her to give me plastic container. I just don’t get when the food is excellent why keep servers who are this unprofessional? I literally had to grab the other guy who is extremely unprofessional and always looks annoyed and asked what container would they had put that entree if it was take out and he was like “ plastic container”. The owner needs to take some action and...
Read moreEasy to see why this restaurant was rated as one of the "Best" places by CT Magazine for 2022. Great decor, very clean, friendly staff. The menu is amazing, so many items its difficult to decide what you want to order!! Portions are very large and if you are a fan of Thai Food - this place is worth the drive to.
We ordered the Fresh Spring rolls with Shrimp, Papaya salad, Tom Yum noodle soup, Thai Basil Fried Rice and Pineapple Fried Rice. Portions so large we had enough to take home for another meal and prices are very reasonable.
Soup and salad came with the Fried Rice entrees. Everything was DELICIOUS, great mix of spice and ingredients. The Papaya salad was absolutely the best I've had from Thai restaurants I've gone to. Nice mix of lime juice and spices and a touch of heat with the papaya and other veggies.
The peanut sauce for the salad and Spring rolls had great peanut flavor, but very thick compared to other places and my own homemade version. This is my only somewhat less than great comment. Everything else gets more than 5 Stars.
The Tom Yum Noodle soup was huge and DELICIOUS and perfectly made.
We drove over 1 hour for the visit, and the trip was well worth it. We've already planned our next visit. If you love Thai Food, be sure to visit this Gem in...
