Great park. The walkway around the lake is serene and nice size. My main complaint is that pets have to be separated in field away from the park in the pet area. This is part of the experience of having a park - somewhere to walk your dog etc. In the past of had an issue with the kids tormenting a family of geese but didn't see this happen this season (might be because I frequent the park less). This is directly caused by the lack of parental guidance. The park personnel did little to rectify this issue either. I think someone else found this appalling and fixed the problem themselves by putting caution tape on the bridge leading to the momma goose and her young. The park personnel said that they had nothing to do with it when I called to thank them for keeping people (tormenting kids) away from the goose family. Overall I think the space and location of this park is great and each year the park hosts the carnival, July 4th and other events that are great turnouts. The only negatives are pet privileges (which for me is a big part of a park experience) and the other is a negative on parenting skills (lack thereof) and not so much of a park...
Read moreThis family-friendly Park is on 11 acres on the southside of Rolla Missouri. It is operated and maintained by the Lions club of Rolla. It is a group of very compassionate philanthropic pillars of the Rolla community. These gentlemen contribute time and money for the betterment of the community. There are many playgrounds that range in appropriate play structures from toddler to adult. There are multiple pavilions on a concrete pad that are available for the public to use. They coordinate many events such as the carnival over the July Fourth weekend which is their main fundraiser. They also do a drive-through Christmas light show beginning after Thanksgiving and ending a couple of days before Christmas. They also have a spring craft fair which has grown significantly over the years with local artisans and Crafters sharing their wares. They have soccer fields baseball diamonds a frisbee golf course and walking trails. They also have an area for firefighter training with buildings that simulate housefires. A must-visit if...
Read moreI recently came as a bike race spectator, and I was struck by how little has changed in the last 35 years! The park’s layout still has a dozen playgrounds and even more reservable picnic shelters. The grounds are still well kept, with smooth pavement, mowed lawns, well kept trash cans, and nearly all playground equipment safe and unbroken.
BATHROOMS- porta potties. That’s unpleasant. I think people must wash hands in the shelter water spickets or something. I think that is what sets this apart from a city park - no public bathrooms.
It is a fairly nice spot for a bike race, with a lot of shade, a grassland area and lots of twists and turns. The soil type is so loose that it is DUSTY when dry. There’s not a lot of technical areas or big hills. One of my kids really liked this, and the other said they’d prefer to go down to Forest City Bike path. So I can see there’s a reason for the bike path since it’s so different than the one...
