It is with a heavy heart that I write this review but I feel it important to share my experience. Eleven (!!!!) months ago I received my first quote from Stokes or my building sign and subsequently a sign was delivered that I was unhappy with (see photo #1). After requesting a new proof I was informed that I would loose my deposit from the first sign and would have to pay for an entirely new sign. Say what? I had to pay for the sign I didn't like plus a new one??? Yes, that was in fact the case. Because I am no expert in signs I called 3 other companies and all 3 confirmed that if they were in that situation they would subtract the amount of the down payment of the first sign from the balance of the new sign. As a small business owner myself, I know this is what I’d do! I wanted to work with Stokes, given that our businesses are neighbors and maintaining a good working relationship was important to me so decided to give them a second chance. What followed was a bunch of empty promises, missed deadlines and a long period of them dodging our phone calls. Aaron (manager?) would promise a new proof would be delivered on such and such a date and that date would come and go. He would then tell who ever was answering the phones to say he wasn't there when we would call, however, if we had one of our other staff member's call who he wasn't familiar with he would magically materialize. Three weeks ago we got fed up and went with a different company, deciding that the aggravation and frustration was no longer worth it. In 3 weeks the new company had our the landlords approval, obtained city permits (which stokes required us to get on our own), had the sign installed (including all electrical installation), marquee sign installed, and door decal replaced. They also removed the existing signs for free, which stokes charged me for. All for the less than the second quote given to us by stokes for their replacement sign (not counting the down payment we would loose). I'm giving 2 stars instead of one bc I'm hoping the owners were not aware of the situation and perhaps would have handled it differently than Aaron did. Will definitely tell others about the good service and outcome. The graphic designers created thoughtful and fun designs and I was impressed with their ability to visually interpret my goals for this project. I always appreciate the trained eye of designers and production professionals and highly recommend you give this team of professionals a chance to do the hard stuff when you need a sign. Read moreRan into a jam with a print job that was done elsewhere. I called Stokes on 620 at 4:15 PM on a Friday and explained my dilemma. Sent the file over for review while on the phone with them and they had it ready for me to pick up by end of business same day. Now that may be a one off situation To do same-day print, depending on what it is that you’re needing. This was a 3’ x 1’ decal. But the story is important because they could’ve said we can’t do it till Monday since we’re almost closing. She took the time to put me on hold and ask as I sent the file over for review. Customer service is such a hit and miss these days and now they have a customer for life with me....
