**I'm glad the hours have expanded to being open Saturday until 5 p.m. They could be expanded even more. Meanwhile, customer service at the front desk on weekends needs serious updating on issues of equity and anti-harassment training for staff:
Please provide updated customer service training to the front desk men who were there today, Saturday, May 18 at 4:45 p.m. One had a large red beard and one had a full head of hair. They are young and I am a senior citizen, but that does not make it okay to harass me.
When I returned my lock and waited for my car keys, I was asked, "How did you manage this?" and the one with the full head of hair held up the lock. I could not see what was wrong with it. I said, "That is your lock, not mine" and both stood there and were chuckling. I asked for my car keys back, which were handed back in a very slow way, unprofessionally, taunting, and humiliating.
I do not expect to be harassed on a Saturday when all the regular people are gone. I do not expect to beg for my car keys back in this way.
As I walked out the front door, The bearded one said very loudly, "Have a nice day!" this is further humiliation and heckling. I do not expect this sort of treatment from a public, non-profit, community facility.
It is not okay for two young men to gang up and bully a senior citizen woman. I do not go to the Y to be the source of entertainment.
This needs to stop and be remedied. I don't think these two are fit for their job at the Y. If this is happening to me, who else is this happening to?
Beautifully clean in recent months. Still not open on weekends--only till noon on Saturday is not helpful. Needs to be open all weekend with generous hours into the evenings. Roseburg is a growing city with a huge senior population. This is the place they go to. It is not providing adequate services. This is the only indoor pool. Metal doorframes in changing rooms is rusted-corroded, this is a health and safety hazard. If someone brushes a leg against it, especially a senior or a toddler, it could be life-threating to get tetanus or...
Read moreMy first time coming here, while visiting from Ft Worth, Texas. I travel quite a bit, and this is exactly why I joined the YMCA...
"because they're nationwide".
I love seeing how each community supports their Y, along with the very different buildings, architecture and cultural influence from each city.
Roseburg has a beautiful complex with an outstanding aquatic center. I'm a swimmer, so I'm "partial to pools" 💦
Nice and clean environment, and the locker rooms didn't smell or feel dated, with plenty of new machines and free weights to choose from in large rooms separating different functions. A bright looking spin room with high ceilings, new rowing machines next door in a cardio room, nice lounging areas, and a ping pong table!
Plenty of parking in a secure area close to the well lit entryway...and my "out of towner" check in process was simple and fast.
I can't wait to return next month and keep my exercise routine consistent as I continue to move about.
Nice job...
Read moreThe YMCA is a great place for families! They offer childcare watch for couples who’d like to workout together (which is hard to find anywhere), gym, fitness classes, swimming, sports for kids, skating rink, and much more! What’s nice is you can become a member with unlimited childcare watch for around $125 per month (which we don’t have but would love to have) and you can utilize any YMCA in America. You’d have a place to workout, swim and shower while out of town, just as long as you utilize your local YMCA the majority of the time. Pictures shown here are from a recent birthday party. You can rent out the entire skating rink for around $300 and bring your party food and enjoy the place all to yourselves! Your guests can skate, just tell them your size of shoe and you can use a stroller for your baby or a push rack to help prevent falls. We haven’t skated since high-school and this was our kids first skate...
