Heard they opened another Old Soul in the old Bluebird pizza, and we had to try it immediately, lol. Called them up about 20 minutes before they closed on a Saturday night and ordered 3 large pizzas, a small cheese for the babies, some cheesy breadsticks, and some Jalapeño poppers. Drove down to pick up my order and was met with a familiar feeling. The same Old Soul style we know from downtown, but with Detroit style pan pizza.
I will start with everything was great. As expected. We ordered the West sider, the spicy Hawaiin, the taco pizza with smoked chicken, and a small cheese. They all came out hot and fresh, alongside the cheesy bread and the Jalapeño poppers. I thanked the very nice and polite staff for their work and headed home.
The new style of dough is great, light and airy but crispy, and depending on if you get an end or a middle, it is slightly crunchy. The toppings all play together very well. The taco pizza has a very nice spicey kick and is a fave here. The West sider is a very classic combo that goes together perfectly. Spicy Hawaiian is a nice mix of sweet and light heat. Breadsticks are pretty good, but not in the same league as the garlic knots we know and love from the original. The poppers though, they are excellent. It's not over whelming and still tastes fresh and pepper centered. We got all of this for less than $100 and fed 5 adults and 2 kids. And still have 4 small pizzas left. Value is good, pizza Is great, and I'm excited to have these guys doing something different here in Roseburg. Thank you Old Soul for changing up the food scene in this part of town. We will...
Read moreIt’s becoming increasingly difficult to stand out in a town over saturated by pizza at this point; even more difficult still to wear the Old Soul moniker and cast your own shadow upon the scene. And yet, Old Soul 2 has managed to go well beyond what in name suggests a simple sequel. OSP2 could well be the next T2 or Empire Strikes back. It stands out first for its unique position nestled in a neighborhood, a location akin to something you might see deep within the Chicago maze.
I find OG Old Soul to be a 10/10 experience, and so it was difficult to take what I perceived as a risk on pizza that I expected to fall short. I was pleasantly surprised to find myself thinking about their cheesy bread many days after my first visit, so much so that I found myself there again the next week closing the place out.
Although it is called Old Soul 2, this place stands upon its own foundation made up of both a unique crust composition and pizza shape, such that I haven’t seen anywhere else before. They offer a nice variety paired with first rate quality. This place is well worth your time and support and I expect to burn out many evenings on their cozy closed-in outdoor tables. Great staff and service that goes above and beyond....
