Iāve only been existing in my Johns Creek/Alpharetta neighborhood for the last 4 years, until I stumbled upon the FRESH FRESH Seafood Dreamland that is Hookād Up Seafood.
I lived in Hawaii my entire life until retiring here 4 years ago so I am passionate about and know seafood. Talk to the guy at the counter. Heās Nick, the owner, and heās as passionate about and knows a whole a hell of a lot about seafood and did this same thing in Alabamaās Gulf Shores. Maybe, thatās why the minute I walked in, I told him that his shop is just like the ones in Jacksonville and Panama City Beach, FL that I patronize. AND, I soon found out that the SEAFOOD is just as FRESH and around the SAME price.
No longer do I need to drive all way to Decatur, through Atlanta 285 & 85 traffic, to get my fresh seafood stop at Your DeKalb Farmers Market or pay premium prices for what they pass as āfresh seafoodā at Kathleenās Catch and Whole Foods, when I can get a better selection, some unique items, and the freshest sourced seafood that I have found in Atlanta at Hookād Up Seafood.
I put together a pasta that fed 4, with the $60 worth of fresh scallops, mussels, and clams. It was the best seafood meal that my family has ever had anywhere, including restaurants on the Greek Islands, because of the freshness AND QUALITY of Nickās sourced products. And there was more seafood than pasta in it. LOL!!.
Our appetizer, the Blue Points and Kumomato Oyster Shooters were as fresh and delicious (raw with just lemon) as the best oyster bars.
As for price, itās really the same as the other specialized seafood markets in Atlanta. For special items, itās worth the few extra dollars per pound because you will pay a lot more elsewhere for them.
Itās amazing to think how much $$$$ I will be saving buying my FRESH seafood from Nick at Hookād Up Seafood; instead of driving down to Florida or eating in over-priced Atlanta seafood restaurants, whose freshness of product is inconsistent. If I could give Hookād Up Seafood more than *, I would. Itās a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have had the pleasure of visiting Hook'd Up several times. As a native Georgian, but a resident of South Florida and the Keys for 30 years, I can vouch that this market rivals some of the best I've have ever seen!
I recently hosted a large gathering for the Labor Day weekend. Nick and his family made it incredibly memorable! They sourced 15 live Maine lobsters that were the freshest and most succulent I have EVER enjoyed! My guests were blown away!
After requesting 7 lbs of live Ipswich clams for the same gathering, Nick sourced them directly from Maine and had them delivered to my house overnight via FedEx! WOW! Needless to say, I was blown away by not only the customer service that exceed all expectations, but the quality was by far the best I have ever had!
I encourage you to visit Hook'd Up and enjoy the freshest seafood anywhere in North Georgia. This place is a jewel to all that appreciate top notch fresh seafood of all types. Not only that, the passion that Nick and his family have for sourcing only the best shines through with the best customer service that matches the high quality of everything they offer. You will not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife was talking to someone about how much we love to get Gulf red shrimp when we go to the Gulf, and then we found out she and her husband run this store! When you walk in, you'll feel like you're walking near the ocean from the smell of the large live tank behind the display cabinet. They get fresh deliveries from the gulf, and they have frozen and refrigerated products as well. The snapper and crab dips were fantastic, although we preferred the snapper dip (pimento cheese with snapper) for its texture. The crab dip was tasty, but it was creamier than we had expected. If you call ahead, they can steam some items for you, which is why we called ahead for two pounds of red shrimp! They were wrapped to keep the heat in, and they were great even after the half hour drive back home. We'll definitely find it worth the drive from Cherokee County to get all we got last time again, but next time I'll be getting some snapper, too, and perhaps some frozen squid for udon -- I'm excited to try more of...
