This was the worst sales experience I've had spending this much money. As new camper purchasers - which my wife and I SPECIFICALLY told the sales rep - we were looking for insight, help, and honestly. Here's what we got:
-Sales rep became visibly unhappy/disappointed that we didn't want to look at higher end campers, we were new and wanted to start with something entry level. -Sales rep lied about features (e.g. Sales guy points and says, "There's your backup camera" we were told when, point of fact, there is NO backup camera included when we were picking up the camper). -I told the sales rep 4 times what type of vehicle I had and he never wrote it down. Just "I forgot, what kind of vehicle do you have again?" -When I told the sales manager I wasn't interested in the formal picture/horn honking thing they wanted to do he said, "Well, if you're gonna be a sour puss about it we won't make you." I should have followed my gut and walked away right there after he insulted me, but I felt I'd embarrass my wife so I didn't. -Found out that the advertised interest rates for the camper were, per the sales rep, "Just an advertising thing, no one ever gets that price. It's like shooting an arrow at a distant target in high wind." I have an 800+ credit rating and had plenty of $ to put down so we asked what we'd have to do to get the advertised rate or close to it, and were told, "Yeah, it never happens." and the sales guy dropped the topic. -Sales rep informed us, AFTER, we put in our credit application that, "You have to have an electronic trailer breaking system," because, "It's the law, you don't have a choice, sorry about that." Would have been something to tell us right off as we told you we didn't know what we needed multiple times. -Same thing when we found out we "are required by law" to have another add on surge protector for plugging in the camper (not expensive, but just another hidden cost). Not to mention all of the sanitation stuff we then had to buy day of pick up as none of it was included (which we specifically ASKED to be told about ahead of time). -Pick up day we did our walkthrough where we had the Tech tell us about how "The QA on this camper is terrible as it's all made in Mexico," and then continued to disparage the camper quality for the next 20min.
The ONLY reason we bought this camper the price was perfect and features were what we wanted. In hindsight, I should have just walked and went somewhere else.
At the time I felt trapped by the process but should have stepped back and just walked from the whole thing. Oh well, live and learn. There are other places to buy and get an RV serviced. I won't make the same...
Read moreWe came in looking for a camper and were immediately greeted by Shelby Harris. We are newer to the camper world after testing it out in an old camper we picked up and fixed up but knew we needed something bigger. We didn't know what we wanted or what would work best for our family. Shelby was incredibly kind and patient with us showing us every style and option while respecting our budget and truck size for towing. We were there for over 5 hours- though everyone was so kind and friendly it sure did not seem like we were there that long! Shelby worked well with her team in coming up with ideas and options for us. We went on an adventure to check out a camper that had just come in but was currently in for detailing and inspection. It was PERFECT for us! During the week we waited to pick up our new camper Shelby was in constant communication with us- measuring beds, sending us pictures (at the time of viewing the bunkhouse was unable to be opened) and answering any questions we had. When we picked up our camper we were immediately greeted at the door and offered bottled water and told the walk through takes time and it was an incredibly hot day. Shelby and John (who came in just to do our walkthrough) did an amazing job with our walk though- going from a 1993 to a 2021 you can imagine we had lots of questions! Our closing with Justin was smooth and easy and he explained everything. Once paperwork was done we headed to the other lot to pick up our camper- the guys there had swapped our batteries, removed our hitch from our old camper, put it on the new one and had everything hooked up to our truck. They even tweaked a couple things we mentioned during our walkthrough (even though we were buying a used camper). The day after pickup Shelby contacted us to make sure we had made it home safely, to see if we had any questions and to update us on the status of the new mattress we had purchased that had not yet arrived. Once our mattress came in Shelby immediately contacted us for pickup. The next day again she contacted us to make sure it was what we wanted and was also interested in seeing pics when we told her that it was perfect and a huge upgrade from the mattress that had originally been in it. She also remembered when we mentioned we were taking it out on our first adventure and texted that morning to tell us to have fun! My husband and I were talking about how we didn't shop around too much when looking for our camper and how we were completely ok with that and agreed that how do you even shop around when you walk in to a place that has such amazing employees you just know that is who you are meant to...
Read moreThis was by far the best RV purchasing experience we have ever had. (This was our third). I was blown away from the start. I had emailed them to check the availability of one specific RV that we had seen on thier website. We were set up with an appointment to come and see the RV in person. We were assigned Tim Myers as our Sales Rep. The following day I received an email and I see there is a video attached and I see a picture of a gentleman standing in front of the RV that were were interested in. I thought to myself, no way....did he really send me a personalized video? Sure enough he did! He introuduced himself and expressed how excited he was for our upcoming appointment. It was awesome! When we came in for our appointment, the receptionist was super nice and welcoming. Tim answered all the questions we had and was very friendly, smiley and knowledgeable. So if your thinking about purchasing from Camping World I 100% recommend asking for Tim!
Then it came down to talking numbers, we worked both with Tim and Justin and they both made sure we were very comfortable with the cost and what it will cost us monthly which was very reassuring! Justin came out to greet us when we first arrived and then again when we came back with our trade in. He was frindly and very efficient when it came to our paperwork. He answered all our follow up questions that we had! We even got a few free swag gifts after we finished our paperwork which is always fun. (well for me anyways lol)
We were sent one mile down the road to drop off our trade in at their service center. While they looked over our trade in, a technician walked us through our camper throughly and she answered all our questions and since this is our first Fifth wheel (which is beautiful may I add) she ensured that we would be shown how to hook the camper up once we get our hitch installed.
But wait.....theres more..... :) Then there was Mike! He was assigned to us as our personal shopper. We have to admit, when we found out what he was we were kinda hesitant. We looked at each other with the mutual thought of, ummm we have been camping together for the last 20 years, what could we possibly need? But it was amazing. Mike asked us questions and was able to make some suggestions to us and in the end, we walked out the door very happy with a couple of purchases that we made. Thanks Mike!
So if your thinking about making an RV purchase, consider Camping World in Rothschild, WI. We drove 2 hours to get there and it was well worth...
