I am a full-time RV traveler. I'm in Ruidoso for another week. I've been to the park several times. The last two times there were people there, which is great, but none of them were in control of their dogs. When I got to the entrance a woman, complete with hands on hips, "instructed" me to take the leases off my dogs. As if I needed instruction. I let it go. I have a 2 YO white husky and a 20 YO Rotti mix. One of her dogs immediately went to my 20 YO and started growl barking in his face. I asked the lady to recall her dog. She "explained" it was okay. Then an older "white man" comes along and starts yelling at me that they don't have to do anything if they don't want. Really crass, very rude and almost angry.
My dogs are exceptionally well trained, when I call they come. When I say stop, they do.
I don't expect other peoples dogs to be as well behaved as mine. However, I don't appreciate be instructed, and chastised for asking an owner to recall their dog.

Read moreWe visited Ruidoso Dog Park during the 2nd week of April. It felt amazing outside, and my dog loved how much room there is to run.
This is a big park, 2 sections, one for small dogs and one for large. Our experience was wonderful. Our pup is Anatolian mix and 78lbs. She was able to safely play with great Pyrenees and a large breed poodle. Both dogs and owners were very watchful and respectful. None of the dogs ever made physical contact, just ran and played and hopped with each other.
Your experience may vary depending on who's there and who's not. People can very easily ruin a great thing. It's not the Dog Parks fault for what irresponsible dog owners do.
This park is worth the 5 stars. Great location, beautiful scenery, large space, very clean, trash recepticles and dog poo bags available, seating and lounging areas, parking directly in front of gate.... we saw nothing wrong with the park itself. If you go, be responsible. Keep watch on all dogs and...
