I will say I really wanted to like this place because of the reviews but was sadly disappointed. We had to wait awhile for seating since it is popular, that's fair, but that meant waiting for a long time for food too.The staff was really nice, attentive and friendly. Pancakes were huge which was a plus. Don't know about the men's,but the women's bathroom was freezing! I suppose it is expected from a cabin- like place though. So food...it was just eh. I had eggs benedict which were not terrible but I've had better. Now, my husband ordered french toast with an egg in the middle with ground sausage, onions and chiles on top of it all. Half the sausage was warm and the other half was legitimately frozen. Like frozen frozen. Sent it back and it was brought back in like 2 minutes obviously meaning it was microwaved. That could be important info to those who don't like their food microwaved. Typically, my husband would have sent it back and request a whole new plate but because we already had been waiting for quite some time,he just ate it. The only fresh fruit they have is banana. We really were just kind of over the place by the end of it all which is really disappointing! I mean it's a popular location so I guess I went in with high expectations due to the high reviews but maybe we just happened to be the 1 in 100 that have a negative experience so you can give it a shot if you want but I think it's a been there done that kind of...
Read moreBreakfasts here are first rate. So good we ate there twice. And that one time we showed up at lunch time, we just had breakfast again because it was that good. Classic rib-sticking meals. You get a ton of food here for your dollar.
We visited in October, that time between summer and winter action when tourists are scant, so we had no wait, but they have a rather large indoor seating area for you to relax as best you can while smelling what’s cooking in the kitchen.
If you’re not from southern New Mexico, heed the warnings on the menu. When they say spicy and hot, they mean spicy and hot. Their green chile is hot. So is their homemade salsa, which stands as some of the most flavorful hot salsa I’ve been served in a restaurant ever. I mean it. I’m a salsa snob. And heed my warning: if you’re one of those people who find even pepper to be too spicy [side eyes my lovely wife] don’t order the gravy either!
Restaurant and bathrooms are clean. Wait staff were all bright-eyed, smart, and seem to genuinely like their jobs, which speaks volumes about management without our ever seeing anyone who looked like a boss during our visits.
Get your grub on here. Even if you have a wait, I think you’ll still be...
Read moreWe visited Log Cabin for lunch. Here’s our review (scale 1-5): 1 for cleanliness 4 for hardworking staff 3 for sandwiches
After reading all the great reviews of Log Cabin, we had to visit, but sadly we were disappointed Reasons:
-Menus kicked under register with dirty shoes, then passed back out as customers arrived. -Server used her fingers to add grated cheese, croutons & tomatoes to my salad. Ugh! I couldn’t eat my salad after seeing that. -Disinfectant spray & dirty rag sitting on salad prep area 6” from food! -Other Dirty rags sitting on a chair near entryway in view of diners. Then used to “clean” tables. -Server Playing with her ponytail then picked up plates to serve to customers. Ugh! I sat eating my lunch in front of a wooden room divider covered with splashes of what looked like syrup. -As we left, the doorknob was covered with stickiness. Ugh!
On a positive note, these folks are hustling & working hard to cook & serve. But the shortcomings significantly outweigh the positives here.
Fortunately many of these procedural oversights can be easily corrected by management retraining. But until they are, we’ll be unable to recommend Log Cabin in...
