I was there for a business trip, I was there for 4 days.
PROS: The resort, in and of itself is worth the value. The staff were awesome, and more than accommodating. Anytime I needed a towel, or coffee, they provided it with excellent customer service. The gift shop was a little lacking. I needed floss and they didn't have any, but there's a gas station less than a block away. The location is excellent, with ample parking. The lobby, lobby bar and breakfast service were incredible for a hotel. They had a grill that would make breakfast to order for you. I can't speak enough about the amenities and the attitude of the staff. It definitely was a resort in that regard. The room had plenty of towels, starbucks coffee...that was all the room had to offer though....which leads me to the cons. Trust me the cons isn't very good, but the staff's attitude and customer service made up for it....The lobby is amazing, and i wanted to spend more time there! lol
CONS: The rooms, at least the lower end rooms were more than lacking. The equipment, beds, and furniture were very antiquated. The wifi was tremendously slow. TV was very small. Not a big deal, I don't watch TV at all. You pretty much have to get out of bed to turn off the lights. I was in an ADA room which was on the first floor. The shower was a nightmare. It consistently flooded the entire bathroom after just a couple minutes of use. I had to use the extra towels to clean it up. The room smelled bad. The AC didn't work very well and was very loud when it clicked on. Waking me up when it did so...So I didn't get very good sleep. The beds smelled bad. On day 2, my towels and coffee were not replaced, the room was not vacuumed or wiped down. I had spilled sugar from the coffee amenities, and it was still there the next day. So, i knew it wasn't cleaned properly. The room, while saying it was an ADA room, would be terrible for a person who is in a wheelchair. They would most definitely need assistance in this room. Luckily, I'm able bodied and managed. The water pressure was low but manageable. The sink was very hard to get to even for an able-bodied person, I'd hate to see a disabled person manage it. If you tried to close the curtain to the shower, you had no room to move, it was like a camper shower. rinse, lather, rinse get out. Otherwise, you had to leave it open and be freezing cold. Pretty much they'd just make the bed and that was it. The room itself had a bad smell. I didn't want to stay in that room, but it was the last one they had.
Overall, I would recommend this resort for someone wanting to stay a night or two. I'd spring for the better suites though, I'd hope they were better taken care of than my room. The grounds have a lot to offer the family, golfing looked nice, even in October, gym and pool were nice and cared for. They had a multitude of other services I did not take advantage of. The staff's attitude, and behavior and customer service was very good. This is the only reason I'd recommend this place. The hotel physically in the rooms appears to be suffering, but your wonderful staff make up for that lacking quality. If the rooms were spruced up and well maintained. I would give it...
Read moreThere will be some negatives in this review, which is why I couldn't give an excellent rating. That being said, I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel due to the amazing staff, beautiful grounds, and great location. ||The staff at this hotel (Ruthie, Mari, Ramon, Salina to name a few) is amazing. From the housekeeping staff, kitchen workers, check in staff and manager, the people that work there care about your stay and make it remarkable. The grounds are beautiful, with excellent walking trails, a beautiful golf course, large indoor swimming pool, and ample (and safe) parking. The breakfast is a full buffett and is excellent. The patio is beautiful and so relaxing to sit outside and take in the surroundings. There is a bar that is open from late afternoon on, however the only food available in the evenings is pizza and wings, which we did not try. ||The only negative I have relates to the cleanliness of the room. I admit I am picky, and I expect a lot when spending quite a bit on a room. We stayed in a one bedroom king room, which in itself was wonderful. A full kitchen, sitting room with fold out couch, king sized bed and bathroom with a jetted tub (more on that later) and a patio with nice chairs and small table. Upon entry, we found water all over the kitchen counters (easy enough to mop up). The room definitely needed painting as there were signs of definite leaks in the ceiling, scrapes on the walls, and issues behind the toilet. There was hair in the bathtub, and bugs on the windown sill (granted, they were dead, but....) and dust on all furniture. The jets on the bathtub were filthy - an upon inspection it was not mineral deposits, but dirt that could have easily been cleaned. Honestly we were so happy with everything else, we didn't feel the need to raise a stink, but I certainly did not use the jetted tub.||On a personal note, the room we were in (140) had a toilet that was so low, my 6'1" husband had a terrible time rising from the sitting position. Granted, we are older, but not invalid by any means. Should this be a concern, I would ask for a possible alternative type of room. ||One very thoughtful gesture was a small stool to help you get into the bed, which is VERY high off of the ground, but super comfortable. ||The hotel is in a great location, close to several restaurants, and it is also very kid and...
Read moreGreat hotel/resort in New Mexico. We just stayed this past Thanksgiving weekend, and had a lovely time. Location of the hotel was excellent for us, we were looking for a resort near White Sands National Park and Roswell for sightseeing, this was about an hour and a half from each. We also wanted something Pet Friendly as we travel with both of our dogs. The hotel itself has a dog park in the back, and plenty of relief areas with trashcans throughout the property, we were very happy with how dog friendly it was. The entire resort was very clean and easy to get around, there were plenty of areas to just sit and relax. As far as staff, from check-in to check-out, every employee we interacted with was extremely pleasant and helpful. The rooms themselves weren't necessarily dated, they're just not too modern, for us, it was nice, we felt very cozy, and like we were in a cabin or ski resort. We only had one issue in the room and it's perhaps more related to our next door neighbors, they were extremely loud one night, I'm not sure if the walls are thin or if they were just that loud, only seemed to be an issue one night. Perhaps saving the best for last, I was very very impressed with the free breakfast in the morning, rather than just having some buffet options, they had a cook making eggs, omelets, etc, fresh per request. All of breakfast tasted extremely fresh, they had options of meats, pancakes, French toast, biscuits, gravy, and much more. We weren't planning on leaving the hotel most of the days we were there, so having good food options were important to us, the breakfast definitely came in handy. The one blemish would have been better dinner options at the hotel, though there were plenty of options in the area nearby, I would have preferred something inside the hotel. We tried the wings and pizza at the bar one night, but weren't impressed, the wings were ok, the pizza not so much, not a huge thing, but I think having more dinner options would make it a...
