I went here couples of times with my family in the past and it isn't so bad. In my experience, it's great park to play sports and run around. What I recommend is, always go with someone because you never know what could happen and it's also a big Park, so is better to go with some friends/family members. I also have an experience on the other side where you can go fishing and it's wasn't what I expected to happened. It was scary and shocking at the same time. After finishing fishing, my family and I head back and our car was break into with a crack on window that glass all shattered down on the rock floor. Our car is really old, so of course, someone will eventually break into it because nowadays, cars have security sound when someone tries to break in into their car. But anyway, this was all the past, but still kind of terrifying. But, please be careful and always stay safe and watch your...

A beautiful spring day in the capital of California in one of the multitudes of parks is a pleasure you must bestow upon yourself. Garcia Bend is one of them. Nestled in a nice upscale neighborhood along the banks of the Sacramento River it is a treat and a half. Quiet, serene. Amenities are path for jogging and biking, fishng, Boat launch. Tennis anyone? Or if you want to just relax under the trees lying on the green grass. I just moved from Texas and there is no sitting in the grass. Besides the various bugs, fire ants are not fun nor friendly. Just one can ruin your day if they bite you. This is my hometown and I'm glad to be back after living in Texas over 15 years. You can't beat the weather here in a park like...

Construction in boat ramp area restricts access to th levee trail somewhat. But still a lovely, easy way to access the river. Very nice little park with soccer fields, a playground, very nice public restrooms and copious parking. Some of the parking is intended for vehicles with boat trailers using the adjacent boat ramp providing access to the Sacramento River. Many people use the park on weekends to access the river levee trail for walking and bicycling, but usage falls way down on weekdays. A short walk South leads to a dirt road sloping down towards the river. Several picnic tables are set up there for having a meal by the river. Bank fishing spots are available in multiple locations. Very pleasant, family...

We had a great time setting up a little picnic for my birthday at Garcia Bend Park. It was a week night and the weather was perfect after having triple digit temps for multiple days. There was a cool breeze and being near the Sacramento River helped as well. We spent two hours there and it was peaceful. The downside is parking as the parking lot is big and we had a few heavy items to haul from the parking lot to the grass area. All in all, we feasted and enjoyed each other's company. It's a large park, close to home and it's conveniently located next to the river and trail.
